Anti-skinhead Campaign

i think so...its pretty recent. but its a pretty unbiased look at skins. there is a nazi skin in it. but theres even a black skin. from the orginial two tone movement.

 

youre an idiot. youre confusing neo nazi with skinhead. a lot of skins are non racist. and REAL skins have jobs.

Yeah well not too many bald people I know ( shaved heads ) like themselves called skinheads so that just leaves the neo nazis.

 

skinheads call them selves skinheads...whether they are trad, sharp, rash, nazi. whatever. shaving your head doesnt make you a skin. and being a skin doesnt make you a nazi.

I had to commnet here because I'm a skinhead, and I found this thread looking up skinhead stuff. Skinheads are not racist, in fact many skinheads are involved in anti-racist groups such as SHARP and ARA. "Paki-bashing", as one of you mentioned earlier, was something that a lot of workers at the time did, because they felt that pakistanis were responsible for taking their jobs etc. It was NOT common among skinheads, but the media chooses to paint a sensationalist image of the racist skinhead.

And to anarchy guy, I love ska and reggae, and oi and punk, and many of my skinhead friends do. Real skinheads are still alive and well.

It seems that for the sake of convenience and to sell an easy story, the media has lumped together various groups of young men of differing political views who shave their heads for a multitude of reasons. Maybe the term skinhead ought to just die out for the best interest of everyone involved in any these scenes. It's a shame that the media has created this stereotype but what else can you do now to free your identity from the taint of bigotry?

 

The easy answer would be not take on the attributes of any group, to behave as an individual.

True, but how many are shaving their heads for comfort? And not the aspect of being identified with a certain group these days. It seems people prefer to be part of group rather than maintain their individuality.

Most skinheads I know call themselves skinheads no matter what, and deal with the fact that people consider them nazis. A lot of them wear SHARP logos and anti-nazi patches to try to differentiate themselves from them.

A lot of people are just stupid though. I heard a story once about this guy that wore a SHARP patch and some idiot comes up to him and says, "Skinhead Against Racial Prejudice? What does that mean your racist or something?

Actually, skinheads shaved their heads originally in rebellion against hippies with long hair which was becoming common. Now it's become sort of a tradition.

 

Hippies grew their hair long, because the girls thought it was sexy and most of them weren't working so money for haircuts was scarce. It wasn't so much a statement as a direct result that they didn't feel hairstyles were important, except for those trying to score with the chicks.

not me... but that film this is england is laughable man "i mean someone has tried to make a film ( a bad one at that apart from the dress) reflecting life in 70"s britain . yeah nazi groups converged on places to try and recrute young teenagers "ie football grounds " punk concerts etc etc but they were fucked right off by the majority of skins .
