when are people just going to realise that global warming is happening and it may be the beggining of the end for us all. The media and the government and a small percentage of british citizens(i call do-gooders) are trying to tell us that driving range rovers and farting cows are the cause. What absolute rubbish. . .First off, how come we only became aware of this problem in the last 10 years or so.?? WOuld it not be so much more logical for this problem to have arrisen maybe 50 or 60 years ago when coal and oil were used in nearly every manafacturing process known to man. Its obsurd to try and tell me that my diesel powered car is killing wild animals and melting the ice caps. modern technology has solved the problem of pollution as it is no where near the level it used to be(england). Every 10,000,000 million years or so there is a natural occurance that happens called...wait for it...Global warming, remember them big green things called dinosaurs???...well if you consider this fact then it isnt hard to recognise that we are long overdue for either the warming..or cooling of the planet. my Range rover produces less gasses than a cow for gods sake... GET REAL PEOPLE AND WAKE UP...THE SAME PEOPLE THAT ARE PUSHING THIS THEORY ARE THE SAME TYPE OF PEOPLE THAT THINK GOD MADE THE PLANET AND THAT WE MUST LOVE THE MIDDLE EAST(when they can blatently see the problems caused by them)a AND THAT WE SHOULD TURN A BLIND EYE TO TERRORISM....DO GOODER, BIBLE BASHING FREEKS.......>>>>>>>>>>>SCIENCE IS FACT<<<<<<<<<<<<<AND THATS THAT.

 

Damn man. Attackin' the Christian folk of this nation a lil harsh aren't you? Before you flip your lid an' I loose my trip lets consider another angle to all this DO GOODER, BIBLE BASHING FREAK shit. An' that angle is.... the government hid the rising of the world temp an' the outrageously increasing levels of C02 in the atmosphere because they aren't ready for change. It started 50-60 years ago but the effects would only be reaching our knowledge today man. Big Brother knows that by keeping our nation on the low side of consumer technolodgy it keeps the people in check. So they lie to us an' try to keep several disturbing truths from us. I suppose that if you are close minded then you can't possibly see things in the other light but it is quite obvious once you look into it. I didn't believe any of the global warming stuff when I first heard it but after lookin' at it long enough I came to realize that it was true. MANKIND IS NOT CAUSING GLOBAL WARMING BUT THEY ARE CONTRIBUTING TO IT. THEY ARE SPEEDING UP THE PROCESS BY A FEW THOUSAND YEARS.

 

Terrorism certainly is a reality. And the U.S. with its allies does most
of it.

We call the Middle Eastern Muslims "terrorists" when they attack us
and kill a few thousand people.

AFTER we have bombed Muslims in Indonesia, Libya, Lebanon, Iraq,
Somalia, Iran, Kuwait and Sudan.

How many Muslims in the Middle East and Indosia has America
and its allies killed? Hundreds of thousands.

Americans want us to believe that the Muslims are out to get
us and destroy our way of life.

Yet it is US who have invaded Iraq and Afghanistan and are destroying
their way of life.

Americans are the planet's premiere terrorists. There is no other country
or group in our class.

And Americans, like you, are incredibly good at ignoring the facts
and believing whatever nonsense makes you feel okay about yourself.

I quit thinking of myself as American a long time ago. I really don't want
to have anything to do with the criminal enterprise called America.

Well man some of us want to know all the hidden truths. My ears, eyes, an' mind are open to any thing I haven't heard about.

 

That's a cop out. Individual responsibility has more to do with it than any other factor.

 

Individuals have a responsibility to mitigate the pollution they generate. And in the last ten years I've seen a complacency to buy more, throw out the old with no consideration for the world, only a primary consideration to one's own lifestyle.

We elect our congress and state legislatures here in the states, and what have we found to be important...only those things that promise us continued fat cat lifestyles and possibly lower insurance rates. And I've yet to see insurance rates lowered...have you?

And even when these experiments prove destructive like deregulation of utilities in California did...no one really asks the big questions. They want a promise that their lives won't be affected. Businesses didn't remove the electric car, consumers did when they showed no interest.

And Global Warming...give me a break, it's another catch phrase and marketing tool. I am not buying into it. You can if you wish.

I don't seek to dictate, I leave that to politicians. I hope for informed personal decisions.

 

It's part of the problem Skip, but like over population and pollution, it's just part of it. Attitude is actually the biggest part of the problem. The tude that it's not my problem it's yours.

According to the free marketers if there had been a huge demand for electric cars the market would have accomodated it. Are they telling lies?

 

There are many ways to manipulate a market into purchasing a product or not. One method is to raise prices of electric cars to detour sales. I'm not saying this is what happened, but possibly could have lowered sales of hybrids/electrics. Another method is lowering the price of gas-guzzling cars. Incentives might have been used to sell more gas powered vehicles at the time. It may appear that the market is not interested in electric vehicles b/c they were not meeting sales estimates, but one must know the conditions of the market at the time. If electric cars were sold at below the average price of similar gas guzzling cars, with large incentives ($5000 rebate), and special deals for "loyal customers" (ie people who buy every car from the same lot), perhaps the market would have been very favorable for electric cars.

It is very true that oil companies and car manufactures have the same interests at stake, so it wouldn't surprise me that electric cars would have been seen as a threat to the oil giants. However, I'm not about to say there's a "conspiracy" where oil companies control manufacturers, which obey every whim of oil. If anything, "progressive" oil companies which are diversifying into alternative energy resources will encourage the production of vehicles which use their alternative fuel. So if Chevron (or any other oil giant) is investing huge amounts of money into ethanol, don't be surprised to see the production of flex fuel and other ethanol fueled vehicles start mass production...

this guy founded the weather channel and he says that global warming is the biggest scam ever. i'm sure he's way more qualified to talk about it than al gore is. also i'm pretty sure he's every bit as qualified to talk about it as any scientist who promotes gloobal warming. skip, somehow i doubt he gets any funding from big oil.
