Yeah and what about the mass stabbing in China last year? No fucking knife control in China and they have a police state! Two incidents in Europe and you say the system is not working.
Agreed. For that I employ running, back into the house to fetch a real gun. However, I did manage to chase a hostile possum away with BBs. I don't want to hurt any wildlife if it can be avoided. But I don't want them chasing our dogs and cats down either.
But the criminals will still have access. Same as when they banned liquor, people can still get their hands on what they want. The only people that will turn them in are law abiding citizens. I wish it wasn't this way, trust me, I am a non violent person 100%.
No, but I am pretty much ignoring you. I feel that you troll me, don't like me...it's very apparent by your posts to me, so I would rather not engage in any convo with ya.We apparently have very different lifestyles and opinions and you seem to be a touch angry about it. :daisy:
I understand your viewpoint t completely. However, I'm looking more at the long term. It's definitely not an overnight fix. Plus, criminals will turn them over when caught using them in crimes - not all of them, and not all right away. In the long run though...
Yes, take them out of stores is a start. Get the republicans out of congress is another step. Ban the NRA is a great step. If these steps are not taken, the cons will ban abortion and make women have kids they can't afford to have. The cons have already all but destroyed Social Security and Medicare for the elderly by stealing $3 trillion from the Social Security fund. They will destroy all healthcare if they remain. The cons also will create more war if they aren't voted out. We have the "gun culture" because of the republicans. We also have an $18 trillion national debt because of them. Reagan tripled the national debt, Shrub daddy doubled it again in only four years, Shrub Jr. doubled it again and destroyed the whole fucking economy. And they did it all while blaming the democrats.
Apparently liberalism often seems like trolling to conservatives. You can't post about controversial subjects and not expect to encounter those who strongly disagree with your positions, unless you go to a site that restricts membership to a specific viewpoint.
I am not conservative...you have no idea what my political views are. People can strongly disagree without being nasty, rude and assuming things about others simply from an opinion in a post. I tried to ignore you, but you wouldn't allow it. To me...that is trolling. Just stop it.
i liked his "this has become routine" remarks and usually dont agree with bo but when every police drama on tv nowadays somehow stays in business with scene like this everyday it somehow glorifies it showing the killers to be on an intense high flashing images on the screen in patterns enough to give me a epileptic seizure gun makers are not the only ones getting rich off this the hollywood the murdocks proctor and gamble even tide detergent is getting rich commercials all part of the air time
I'm out of 'like's' for today. I HATE being in Time Out. Consider yourselves 'liked'. I think the discussion has been positive for the most part. I don't quite know how race got involved with this but nonsense on that. I really approve of the fact that the sheriff refused to name this criminal. I wish all the media would follow suit. That goes against 'right to know' and is quite opposite of my progressive leanings but it's how I feel. Why give the bastidge what he wanted? It accomplishes nothing but increased ratings for a tragedy.
The NRA is doing what a very large number of people want it to do. We always want to blame an organization, the government--anything that lets us avoid saying "The probem is you and me, pal". I'll tell you one thing, I'm more afraid of the guy down the street who owns a gun than I am of any terrrorist organization. The "guy down the street" isn't any particular person, just a law-abiding firearm owner who hasn't snapped yet, or whose kid hasn't snapped yet. Someone like Chris Harper Mercer was, last week.
There is some kind of difference though. I cant think of a single mass school shooting incident here in aus, have to really go back to the 70s for the last street mass shooting thing. Gun control wont stop everything, but it will cut it down. But I dont think thats it, there is some kind of cultural difference, America seems unique across the world when it comes to the mass school shooting things And all these guys do seem to have similar psych profiles, social reject with a god complex Looking from the outside, seems silly to say it isnt at least in part about gun control
Show us some evidence. At gun shows, there are no background checks done for mental illness or prior criminal convictions for violent crime. You and me? I don't even own a gun, or have access to one.
Getting rid of guns is a process of attrition. Get rid of the gun stores, the NRA, and the republicans in congress that feed the gun culture, and eventually we will get to be a civilized society.....otherwise it's not going to change for the better.
I don't think we can tell people in or near wilderness areas that they can't defend themselves against wild animals, but they don't need assault weapons or easily concealed handguns to do that. They don't need magazine clips that hold 30 shots. Also, the gun show loophole should have been closed years ago. No legitimate benefit to anyone. I'd like to see tighter restrictions for urban areas, not so much for rural.
Just saw this on another site...... Oregon Gunman described himself as a "Conservative Republican" in an online dating profile.
And therein lies the problem. You never know if someone is going to strap down and go into the next McDonalds or school or climb a tower. And they are ALL armed.
