I'm not saying all churches should be closed down. Just that they should see the limitations of the Bible, and accept that there is much very useful knowledge outside of it. As long as people insist the Bible is the literal truth of things, they're lost. On the other hand, I think I could have easily constructed a thread with far worse things taken from the Bible - mass genital mutilation of fallen enemies for example. Should we trust either a book or a god who insists such things were ever, in any reality past present or future right for human beings? I don't think so, but if others want to believe it's ok, it's their choice.
I love the Bible. Just got home from visiting the Church .. about half an hour ago. It thrills me. I think plenty of people don't know religion, or religious people. Too many hold common beliefs that aren't even their own (proving that they don't think for themselves, they just conform). It's like a script and people just parrot it, all saying the same nonsense stuff against religion. Let's hear something NEW. But Scripture (including the Quran) is a script, too. What I don't like is proud non-religious people who have no reservation appreciating certain Scripture when it suits them (when it's culturally common). Those are probably those sheep though, various levels of lost. Are you aware of the ritual performed today?
Ritual is something in which I have very little interest. As for holding to common beliefs, I don't know what you mean unless you can be more specific. I also think that you've ignored my previous post about mass genital mutilation as mentioned in the Bible you love so much. As for something NEW - One place you won't find that is the past.
Ritual is something we all participate in whether people know it or not, whether we're aware of it or not. A moment of silence for Boston Today, at 2:49 p.m. ET, President Obama will observe a moment of silence to mark the one-year anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombing. That's a ritual. And I think if you were at a gathering or ceremony where a moment of silence was held, I don't think you'd be the one defiant asshole to cough. Maybe you would be but I get the feeling that you would obey the ritual. Genital mutilation, yes I did ignore it. Why wouldn't I? Be more specific. Yes, I do love the Bible. No, that shouldn't offend you. C'mon, give me something new and not this ridiculous crap you're putting forth about cats and crows. You only make yourself look ridiculous (but there's a LOT of people who keep you company in that sector).
A national event to recall a massacre need not have any christian undertones. It is more a purely human thing. Or should be. No god required. Instead of issuing challenges to me to give you something new, I'd just say stop repeating the old bullshit with which you've been conditioned. Tell me something new. You think as a human you are superior to a cat or a crow? I think you probably need a complete re education. You are actually less than either of these animals. Why? Because you delude yourself that you are superior, and all on the basis of some black old book. If you are not aware of the genital mutilations recommended by Jehova, clearly you are not well qualified to defend the Bible.
That means there are still way more than a billion people who are not. They deserve God in their life and the word of Jesus Christ, our Saviour too. Let's go door to door and tell them they go to hell if they don't start believing soon.
Because it's in revelations. This was not exactly what I had in mind if I would go travelling with you but alright :2thumbsup:
And now you know the true reason I travel. I am really a missionary who bringeth forth the knowledge of the bible.
You don't know me, BlackBillBlake. You only *think* you do. I know the bullshit you're putting forth and you know absolutely nothing about me. I can prove my stuff. You can't prove yours (cats and crows, good grief!).
<< And who are you to say my opinion is ignorant? Do you posses absolutely certain knowledge? I don't claim to. But I am not really into simply repeating the tired old patterns of the last 2 millenia.>> You said your opinion is ignorant? You used a.kindle copy and word search to even open a bible discussion? You don't think that puts you on exactly the same par with the people you are whining about? I should change it from ignorant self proclaimed to pathetically so. You said your english version kindle (rofl) is more than you want to know - yet you're an authority. I guess some people find good and useful things - I think you should do whatever seems good to you.
They can't help it they are ignorant, because they are never exposed to the one true religion. Atheists are far worse, because often they know about Christianity, but they reject it. Filth of the Earth they are.
I dislike ritual as I said. I always try to avoid any participation. I'm equally as critical of the state as of religion. When I see all those monkeys acting simultaneously, I just think how I hope re-incarnation isn't real. Seig Heil and all that...
My cat died 6 years ago today. In a fire. I burned with her, but I survived (obviously, duh). Do I think I, as a human, am superior to my dead cat? Do I think she, as a cat, is superior to me? I think .. I don't think like that. No reason for me to. I don't have the superiority complex that some people seem to wish I did. But I don't. The Bible is awesome, I love it. Quran is good stuff, too.
