There is no rule against using a foreign language in the English based forums. However, consistent use of foreign languages in such forums is frowned upon for a number of reasons, one of which is it makes it more difficult to moderate or understand.

Anyone can open a new thread on a similar subject in a foreign language forum if that is your preference.

I had only heard the "rehab" song until I learned of Amy's death.

It seemed like low-to-mid talent one-hit wonder novelty gimmick material, but was funny in a twisted way. I didn't pay much attention to her.

So after hearing of her death, I tried listening to some of her songs, such as back to black
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=TJAfLE39ZZ8

and then it hit me "holy shit, she really did have talent". amazing vocalist, indeed talented. I haven't really heard much else by her that I liked though. anyone want to post some links?

in judging her life and death, one should consider what lead her down that path

and we should be cautious of condemning her, lest fate lead us to a similar end...

    rest in peace, Amy

I've not heard anything from her other than the singles she released. But they played a montage of some of her songs on the radio the other night though, and I can't deny it- she was an incredibly talented singer!

Yeah, and Jim Morrison, too. (Don't worry I'm a fan of his. Pun purposes only.)

Seriously, though, I don't think anyone should be so harsh towards Amy, because she really did want to get off drugs. She even says so in the song "Rehab", in which she thinks she has the strength to do it herself.

But see, addiction is hugely underestimated. She was actually on a program near the time of her death, and her parents said there was progress. Everyone has different personalities and body chemistries, and for some people it's much worse than others. She also suffered from depression and eating disorders. Her former husband had introduced her to some of the drugs she took, as well. If anything, we should have pity and sadness, not just calling her out like the media is.

We didn't know her personally, and people who did said she was a different person than the way the media portrayed her. Who are we to judge? What if she was your best friend, or your daughter? Most people have no idea how much pain she went through and will never feel that much pain in their whole lives. She went through a living hell.

She had amazing talent, and it's such a huge shame she died. I read somewhere she said there'd definitely be a new album out beginning of 2011, and yet I also read elsewhere that not much had really been recorded.

I'm not a fan of most of today's stuff, because frankly it's crap, but Amy was different. It's an amazing achievement in itself that Amy was able to become famous with such good, creative music and with such raw talent. It's surprising that a jazz/soul singer can even become famous these days. Too bad we're now left with over-produced crappy female pop singers that sound like robots and only sing about sex.

Anyone who digs soul music should definitely check out Amy's work. Rest in peace.

Here it is for those who may be missing it.

    Big O:

    Who are you addressing Orison?

Er...you knew her? I'd never heard her music before now, but I think you should quit her as it's obviously not profiting you. That's me telling you what to do. Want to go to war now?! Take your rag out on the industry, bitch.

    Feel it baby.

Fucking score for more on this "news" which drew you like a pistol. BBAD diligently dildoed it home. I took his shades and smirk off for him and all he had for me was a frown?

    Schadenfroh is a whore.

When I think of Amy Winehouse, I think of how unique she was. How she was different from the rest of the musician's. Not afraid to sport the Beehive hairdo even when it was not the "in style". Her voice was awesome. She was ecclectic (sp). Many stars in the business are around alcohol, drugs, and parties on a constant basis. She very well could have fallen victim to the "party life". Or could have been into the drugs and alcohol before she even became famous. I'm not sure about that. I was not a fan of hers. It is sad though that she lost her struggle to become clean and sober. And she paid that price with her life. A wonderful talent lost to us forever. R.I.P. Amy. You no longer have to suffer with your addiction and pain that afflicted you for so long.

    No.

No one is a "victim" of the party life.

Drinking and taking drugs in the manner that she did is not addiction, and it's not depression, either, as her and others would claim.

It's simply being stupid and selfish and having NO self control.

You can drink and take drugs and be just fine. You just have to not be a fucktard:2thumbsup:

    Also: fucking owned, dejavu.

Not by you, I believe that. Though have you really checked with your colleagues? As you know, I can't delete my own, only edit them out.

    Roorshack:
Not by you. I'm not sure how you pull mod duty here. Go through the proper channels. Put in your application.

Not that simple. People do sometimes die by mistake. But by all means claim degrees in fucktardedness, if you're learning something.

It is a loss to the music industry, albiet an overly manufactured one. Chicks like her are ten a penny though, At least we still have Sia Furler. Was just checking out the stuff she did with Zero 7 in 2006. She can sing too.

This early performance from Amy Winehouse in 2004 is well worth checking out, for anyone who ever doubted her talent.

Because apparently you knew her personally, and you know what it's like to deal with the same things she went through.

What the hell makes her manufactured? Manufactured is Lady Gaga, Kesha, Katy Perry, Beyonce, I'm not even going to name names anymore. Although the worst career move musically was when Amy allowed some of her songs to be made into rap remixes. They plastered one of them for the U.S. version in place of a song about weed. But that's why I stick with the original tracklisting. In fact, it's her original songs that made her famous.

There's nothing actually manufactured about her sound. The production on her "Back to Black" album is very 60's Motown-ish with no electronic percussion. It sounds like it could have been made in the 60's or 70's. She uses her actual voice, and it's not altered at all. The album credits show A LARGE variety of actual, real instruments were used. It's a breath of fresh air considering the time period it was made in. In fact, I'm very surprised, which makes it all the worse that she died so early and the way that she did. She actually deserved the musical recognition that she had.

I don't know it just seems that way, maybe the word I am looking for is over produced.

I am always skeptical about artists who make it big off the back of a mercury music prize award.

You are right, she deserved the recognition she got, and her band are also pretty sick.
