this is as good an explanation as any. i have trouble believing that my consciousness ceases to exist after death. my mind recoils from that idea, the irony being i wouldn't know anyway if that were the case!

I think we join the spirit of the earth and become one with the universe until our essence is needed again

It is also possible that these states may not be recognizable to one another as identical substance. Just as it is not immediately apparent that clouds are made of water.

Kant said that a 'nothingness' or emptiness can't be an object of thought. It would certainly explain why so many have the same belief as you do, that you can't imagine yourself not existing.

Contemplation however can be unbound from description. That is you may turn off the internal dialogue and still be acutely aware.

Without an object? How? Even without the dialogue, you can feel your heart beating, your breath, which many people in the past have mistaken for the soul or the self.

Those are descriptions. How is through practice. You don't have to use your mind to quantify. The first obstacle peace must cross is the desire to be rid of it.

I'm not sure I'm reading you right. Are you saying you somehow know you are 'quantifying' (whatever that means) without using your mind? Because that would mean some kind of extrasensory or superexperiential knowledge facility of the body, which doesn't exist, at least not in me.

No, I mean you don't have to quantify at all.

Uh..Okay. So what does that have to do with contemplating without an object of thought?

So you're saying that thinking about your breath without describing it is qualitatively different from thinking about it while describing it?

Sorry, I mean it possible to become an object of thinking, objective thinking, rather than thinking of objects, subjective thinking.

We never die. Our physical form dies but our spirit and energy and soul lives on.
Have you ever had it when you meet someone and you instantly feel some kind of connection, almost like you've known eachother forever without meeting? I believe that things like that occur because you met in a previous life, or maybe before you took form.

Our bodies are just our 'transportation', they are our vehicles. Your spirit and soul always stays the same but your form or vehicle changes.

I know many, myself included, that have vivid memories and flashbacks from past lifetimes, as a kid I was convinced I was victorian, I used to ask my mum why I was at school and not in the cotton mill with the other kids. My partner remembers a very specific event that happened in 1910 in france, he wrote an essay on it at school and by the end of the day was correcting teachers and telling them exactly what happened. That's very emotional for him too, he usually gets tears in his eyes talking about it.

I think, obviously, we will never know for sure what happens when our bodies die. I know though, that our souls don't die and we will be back. I feel thousands of years old, with memories from hundreds of years ago. I also believe that you can love the same soul throughout many lifetimes. I used to get dreams about me and my partner before we had ever met, and when we did meet it was the craziest feeling, kind of like thinking 'oh there you are' but expressed in a feeling, like a hole being filled.

    Call me crazy!!

Nah. There's no spirit and no soul. Sure you can think of the body as energy and it's passed on to worms and bacteria which rot your body away and maintain the balance, but that's about it. Doesn't matter what you feel or experience. People feel all kinds of stuff on drugs and that doesn't make that stuff real, just that any experience is possible.

If any experience is possible then why not something after death?

Your mind is amazing, you can become completeky disconnected from your body, people can leave their bodies and control their dreams. Out of everything, your mind, your personality, your soul, is always the same (unless in cases of illness), your body changes thriugh modification and aging but your mind doesn't, it keeps learning new things and bettering itself.

Your body rots. But then what happens to your thoughts, your being? Where does that go?

When you dream you use dmt. When you die your body releases the biggest dose of dmt that you will ever experience. make of that what you please, to me that seems like your send off to the otherside, your one last taste of human reality that propells you into the everlasting void.

    Greetings.
    Still...I sincerely hope you prepare.....well.

Was reading "Stop walking on eggshells...."
    Had poignant quote....

"This book is dedicated to my husband, Robert L. Burko, a man who says he does not believe in unconditional love but gives it nevertheless....."

How do you define an experience?
For those that witness your presence, how is there experience of you defined?
How would your experience differ, if at all, if perspective was added?
To look through the" eyes", feel with the senses of a dog...a horse...a bird of prey....another being....different beings....
How is your perception shaped by experiences?
Where do you find perception ends, and reality begins?
If most things are subjective, and relative.....what is the subject, and how is it relative?
