yeah manchester alone really produced some great bands. melancholy sheek for the most part. :cheers2: Odon, i hang my head in shame *hangs head*
Odon likes Jonathan King cos he went to Charterhouse Yes Odon top bands do sometimes have rich kids playing in em.Because being in a top rock band pays lots of money...! No being rich doesnt tend to produce great rock musicians. ( I can only really think of one big exception here) By sheer statistics , its less likely for genius to appear in the small rich place like Palm Beach Florida than a big poor area like say South Wales. Less "rock things" to sing about , less socially acceptably amongst peers too etc etc.Lots of reasons. Yes rich kids dabble and get into the industry thro cronyism , and *occasionally* talent , but somehow I dont think Ozzie Osbourne's or Rod Stewarts daughters will reach rock greatness..
I wont say anything about aerosmith, because whatever. I have no idea who the steve miller band and the dire straits are. BUT Motley Crue? Thank you for the early morning LuLz
for their era motley crue was just as innovative as the beatles were in their era.both changed what music was on the radio during their time period.. its all relative i suppose.. that being said,i wouldnt put either in the category of greatness..
Isn't he that perv' ? Being in a band is not a prerequisite to becoming famous then rich though. Don't be such a reverse snob. Second generation rich is different. As any "Rock legend" will have money and will be therefore rich. I doubt either of them will be too, though. Overall...You're probably right - but really I was just sayin' it does happen and more than a few hide their roots for just that reason. I was thinking more privelaged kids have more opportunities to "express themselves" and/or have the luxury of not having to worry about working. Perhaps "rich" is a little too far, but many of the bands in this thread have middle class privelaged kids in them - always have always will.
I dont know, Im not really a Beatles fan but I like some of their albums, but to me Motley Crue is a joke, not only a musical one.
BLASHPEMER! lol. i love my metal. it's not about the music exactly, it's about what the music makes you DO, how it makes you ACT.
not all of it, but most of it, yes. but a good partier isn't actually listening to the lyrics. gotta keep it simple for the screaming.
Ha. I dont know about that, but Im gonna try to understand this... what does metal makes you do and how does it makes you act? And dont get me wrong, I dont have anything against metal, but Motley Crue is a POOR example of music. I think metal and I think Black Sabbath.
I saw them live 3 years ago. :cheers2: Judas doesn't have the best lyrics in the world either but still better than a lot of metal bands (talking to you, Manowar) + Halford's vocals are epic.
it's just different. it's not shitty in the right situation. it's fun, it's purely mindless entertainment. it's a cheesy good time. it's never failed me, even with people who hate metal. the sing along, replete with hand gestures, air guitar and wrong words is very freeing. mind you, i can't listen to the shit when i'm not partying. i do actually have some standards, all appearances to the contrary.
