The meaning? A meaning of any word is its invocation. There is nothing you or any other can call god that cannot not be expressed differently. God's not all that we invoke. There is nothing I can add to the symbol short of becoming a god. Yes, I leave you with it, an all too human abstraction. It will remain disjointed so long as you devote yourself to it. Insistence can never be completely kind. Love however...
well , when an abstraction presents itself as human ... do i see a ghost ? pertinently , in here in this exactness , it'd be the ol' ghost in the machine ...
Writing. If reality were only virtual, the sole sense in which we'd get with the program would be our being begotten by it. Elvis has left the building.
my mother died recently . and now i have dreams which are not for myself , for my father's sorrow . yes , as in love i go to see him i see that he receives them - as he cannot remember his own dreaming . her story through me , as portrayed in three images , is only a simple kindness . i cannot demand he survive his sorrow . write .
Well there's true morality based on empathy and caring and then there's religious "morality" which is totally warped by beliefs and denials.
Are you implying religious people can't have morality based on empathy and caring just because their religion contains some principles on morality? There is objective truth and there is subjective truth which is warped by hate and discontent with reality.
To invoke means to cite or appeal to something or someone as an authority for an action or in support of an argument. Anything you cite or appeal to as authority represents the level of your devotion. Your devotion is what it is no matter how you express it. A god could be an admired, adored, or influential person and this is something you cannot avoid, we always choose with a guide. God is phenomenological. There are many words that have synonyms and the content of an idea can be expressed in many forms. I and my progenitor are one.
I'm not saying religious people don't have morals based on empathy and caring, I'm saying that their religion often distorts these morals. Like I said in post 191: Clearly theistic religious delusions can manifest real animosity for REAL people of other groups, let alone a loss of empathy. Vicarious redemption through Jesus Christ is essentially an elusion from moral responsibilities. You are EXPECTED to sin and forgiving YOURSELF of sins, are the dominant underlying messages behind Christianity. Religion IS the perversion of morality.
Nope. If a theistic delusion distorts then they do not manifest animosity for real people. Their animosity is brought about by interpretation of fact. No one suggests vicarious redemption, if you are redeemed. No jesus is said to have said, let he who is blameless cast the first stone for justice, go and sin no more.
Thanks for clearing that up. And yes a lot of delusions could cause a loss of empathy and animosity towards other groups. We shouldn't forgive ourselves? I think it is wise to expect some sinning Not sure it is encouraged (as you seem to imply) by those dominant underlying messages in christian religion. People pervert morality, wether they are religious or not.
homosexuality is not honored ... oops , do what you do . a hole in the rock may suffice . people pervert morality ? people make magic
You underlined my typo and brought it to my attention. Thank you. It should read: "There is nothing you or any other can call god that cannot be expressed differently." So you and your god are one? But who or what's your god? Or is your progenitor not your god? Why does your god appear to me as your confusion rather than your devotion?
We can forgive ourselves... for the right reasons. Honest change of heart, new-found understanding and personal growth... NOT to be rewarded! Only completely immoral sociopaths need promises and rewards to keep them inline. Letting your superego dismiss your wrongdoings so you can feel righteous and receive a reward... That is egotistical religious pseudo-morality. Yes, people will pervert. Human nature, nature itself, survival often contradicts caring morals. Religion is a TOOL than MAN INVENTED to survive and live with himself and his moral contradictions.
^hmmmm.....interesting observation. I also think religion tries to deal with the hard concept of death, so religion is comforting here to many.....
Perhaps he should have eased off on the rhetoric? lol "Let he who is blameless, cast no stone, rather go, and sin no more."
