American viewers were busy with Thanksgiving preparations, economic concerns, and full of Obama hysteria. They needed media newscasters to redirect their attetion. And they did just that!
im glad you are experimenting with it.. i had considered getting one so dear daughter could watch tv but we only got pbs before and judging from what you have said thus far it would be a total waste of money.. not that the simple fact of the electricity it wastes turning it on isnt already a total waste of money...
The main reason I bought the boxes was so that I could continue to get PBS. The night our local channel went full power, and closed down their analog broadcast, it came in crystal clear, at midnight it went out and I'vw never receved them again. I've contacted the station., and they have no solutions other than a roof top antenna for 350.00. My question is why did I receive them the first night without one. I am going to miss Democracy Now, but I check on their website so not totally out of touch. PS: If you do buy converter boxes buiy them online, much cheaper, and more available.
Sorry, but that seems absolutely meaningless to what you were saying earlier. Never mind though. I appreciate you say thing like that a lot (knowing what other Americans are thinking.) I'm used to it.
I am a minority I don't get satelite or cable, but my friends do. And they also shop and just tune into the news for quick bites. I also have a background in marketing. My firends just know that Al Qaeda and Bin Laden are behind this. They have no reason to think otherwise. They are busy shopping today. Our leaders have not come forward with other alternatives. The turbanned radicals did it!
PBS locally has been broadcasting soley HD since July. They cancelled their analog broadcasts then. I am not planning on putting up an antenna for 350.00 for something I got for free in the past, so their market is going down. Is that something they are comfortable with?
yes gardener they broadcast programs that are recorded in HD and are broadcast in digital but if you dont have a tv that is HD the tv does not pick them up in HD only in standard digital. its no different than with your analog signal...
This television conversion is a hell of a lot bigger problem than anyone is giving it credence. But that's a question for a totally differenbt thread, that no one seems interested in.
So a conversion box isn't going to cut it? What sort of investment does the average viewer have to make.
you have to buy a HD television.. i think they are pretty expensive.. but you should still receive the digital signal without one.. i mean football games have been broadcast in HD for years and you could still view them with a analog signal without a HD tv or through a digital satellite with a older non HD tv... that should have nothing to do with you receiving the signal..
Hey I receive a lot of signals with the conversion box, but the one I wanted to receive PBS, is so weak through the conversion box I don't receive it all. Network stations I now receive two of them for each channel, without antennas. Their second channels are usually infomercials. Does that tell you who profitted from this rape of the consumer. Colin Poiwell should be proud of his son!
