Sure sure I know man, but they arent radical man, I was once the same way. In fact, I used to Hate people who believed in God when I was a young teenager, because of how fucked up my christian elementary school was. So ujst remember, being open minded and all, that one day you may experience something that changes your mind, I accept that and claim nothing to be fact, purley opinion :) Acceptance is all we need man!

    Sure sure.
I am not saying that you are closed minded. However, if you claim that there is no afterlife to be a fact, then yes that is closed minded. If you claim that there is no afterlife to be your opinion, then I respect your opinion to the fullest and will tell you that you are right, to yourself and to others who believe the same.

Apparently no, you still dont get it. Anybody who claims to know the truth of what happens after death and calls it a fact is closed minded to everybody elses opinion. Anybody who claims to know the truth for themselves as a personal opinion is open minded. If you cant understand that then Im sorry, I dont know how else to put it, other than this :

Fact : closed minded, because there is no proof

Opinion : open minded, because you admit that you may be wrong.

I believe that everything consists of energy, and that energy circulates between every molecule of existence in a lattice that composes a sort of universal consciousness. This universal consciousness in a sense created this reality by believing and manifesting its own potential to grow and imagine. Life struggles to survive, even when it seems hopeless, and I believe it is to maintain the consciousness and energy of this reality. When we die the energy reverts back to its simplest form (or maybe most complex form) and is one with the universal consciousness. Now this energy could be thought to be the soul. Who knows if you keep your own consciousness though. So you could say we create our own subjective reality through our influence of the whole.
Dying seems beautiful, and I don't fear what's beyond this place.

Haha I just woke up and my brain may not of conveyed that as clearly as I would have hoped. Hopefully you can understand what my idea is :)

    1. Do you believe in a spiritual afterlife? As in heaven, or something of the sort?
Yes. I think some sort of "heaven" exists. I am not sure if it's the Christian heaven or what, but there has to be something. I can't imagine us just NOT existing at all, anymore. Maybe reincarnation? Maybe an eternal psychedelic trip?

    2. Have you ever watched somebody die, either naturally, accidentally, or purposely (ie. murder, suicide) ?
    Yes. My Grandfather

2.a If you have seen a person pass on, did you notice the look in their eyes when the light faded and the energy left?
I was too young to remember

    3. And last but not least :

3.a Are you mentally prepared to accept how you've lived your life so far and die at any moments notice without having regret?
Yes. Like I said for the first question, I am not sure what lies next, and I am not gonna live my life worrying if I have made mistakes and I'm not gonna waste my time regretting anything, especially since everything I have done wrong has been done with the understanding that it was wrong, and I'm not gonna regret something I did that was knew, at the time, to be wrong or immoral.

3.b and, most importantly in my opinion, are you afraid of dying?
Nope. Life is hard enough. Death should feel nice, for a change. If I was afraid of dying, I wouldn't have done MANY of the things I have done, especially with drugs. If it happens, cool.....if not, even better, but it's whatever.

Well for me, I try to mix relgion and reason. I don't follow the bible, because I think all humans, whatever your relgion is, you should believe, but make your own decisions on what you think will happen after you die.

Obviously we came into life without a choice, so their must be a source that governs all exisitence. And obviously we cannot be the only source of life in the universe. I believe in the fact that we all will go to some sort of gathering when we die...i'd like to say heaven, but thats the human's idea, so it would be confusing to say where all non-earth life would go.

I believe that the life we are experience right now is such a short period of time in the universe, that it is only the beginning, and much much more lies ahead to where ever our conscience leads us to next. But thats just my opinion :).

Also, its ok to say you're afraid to die, its a natural feeling, we're afraid of the unknown and mysterious :D

Eggzakly! Everyone should believe what seems right to them, regardless of how they are brought up and what they are taught to believe.

If a person "believes in" or "worships" a god.....any god, just because they are told to and because they are scared of being punished by their god for questioning their beliefs, then they are just kissing their god's ass and should be shot in the face with a potato gun, if you ask me.

Ok, well I definetly believe in a sort of universal conciousness that everything eventually becomes part of, but I am not yet sure whether or not I believe in rebirth. I feel like I do belive in it, but at the same time I feel like Plants and other parts of nature are not reborn, and directly dissolve into the overlying web of conciousness that is everything. A metaphore I would use to best desribe the "web", since I find it to be indescribable, would be sunlight. On a sunny day people will often say, "im going to go sit IN the sun". Well, we are at all times IN, or more appropriatly in AND part of a conciousness, or "oversoul", as some would put it. I have seen someone die, but have not noticed the look in their eyes. As far as dying myself goes, I am almost looking forward to death, but not until I have had MUCH more experience and wisdom imparted on me. If I were to die today my only regret would be that I didn't have enough time to learn everything I wanted to, or gain a level of understadning I wish to attain at some point in life.

    1. Yes i do believe in an after-life of some sort. I believe that the way we live our life, determines how much closer we get to Gods presence. I dont believe in hell, just seperation from our creator when we die, which may lead to another chance on earth given by God(like reincarnation in a way).

    2. Never watched anyone die and don't really plan on it.

3a. I am not mentally prepared to die, i regret so much in my short life ive lived. I know right from wrong, its just the wrong side is usually more appealing, causing me to do the wrong thing. I believe this earth runs on love. Kind acts towards others makes ANYONE feel good. Say some acquaintance that you respect, but dont talk to that much gives you a compliment, or a simple whats up, i atleast feel good about somebody taking there time to say hello or something nice. Thats what makes humans happier, better people, never quick to violence and peacemakers.

3b. To be honest, i dont know if im afraid to die or not. Some nights ill get into deep thoughts about death(usually after i smoke) and i react differant each time. I mean if i could stay a teenager my whole life, i wouldnt want to die. If the question was "are you afraid to grow old"?, then my answer would be yes. I love my life so much right now, i dont have to work for a living, i have a great neighborhood, a great group of adults that love me, im tall and would consider myself decent looking, i get along with males and females, im athletic, i smoke weed and get drunk on weekends and can stay out as long as i want and basically mooch money off my parents whenever i want, i have plenty of entertainment, such as internet, cable, etc. As i grow older my hepC will just get worse and im going to die at a young age(my guess is 30-50 years old). My point is that i wanna live this life forever, because i know this is the best it gets. I want to be the person i am today typing this right now, forever.

I sincerely apologize for rambling and going off topic, yall know its a bad habbit of mine.

if you are trying to attack Krsna by saying w/o her religion she is afraid and alone.. well ya got some learning to do.. i'm taking a stab in the dark to say she follows Buddhism.. which is not a religion since there is no "god" that is worshiped... Buddhism is just a way of life.. its not "do this or this will happen" its more like Live life with no restraints.. learn to let go and there will be no suffering.. buddah was a teacher.. he taught us how to find peace and eternity.. there are no dates.. or times in buddhist beliefs they are just stories passed down from generation to generation.. on how to live life with no suffering

To answer Krsna's question.. i believe in Karmic reincarnation.. I believe what is done in this life will pass on to the next life and determine how and when and where i come back.. obviously i've lived a positive karmic life since i can't complain.. i have had little struggle in life.. only struggles i've had have been of my own doing.. and now by reading about buddhism for awhile now.. i have learned to lift these struggles and be able to live my life to the fullest that i feel is needed with little or no struggle.. Nothing has been the greatest thing i have learned since rebirth

    1. Do you believe in a spiritual afterlife? As in heaven, or something of the sort?

    I won't know until I'm there.

    2. Have you ever watched somebody die, either naturally, accidentally, or purposely (ie. murder, suicide)?

No, but I've seen my best-friend crack and try to convince me to tell him it's all right to kill himself for 6 hours. When he wasn't telling me "to just say it" he was saying "good-bye" or his name over and over and over and over and over.

2.a If you have seen a person pass on, did you notice the look in their eyes when the light faded and the energy left?

I didn't see the boy I knew in his eyes. They were troubled and near-empty.

    3. And last but not least :

3.a Are you mentally prepared to accept how you've lived your life so far and die at any moments notice without having regret?

    Yes.

3.b and, most importantly in my opinion, are you afraid of dying?

No. I'm afriad of losing the happiness I currently possess.

    1. Do you believe in a spiritual afterlife? As in heaven, or something of the sort?

I used to believe in a heaven, but now i think it's more like... when I die, the piece of spirit inside of me on this side will join the piece of my spirit on the other side if that makes sense. I believe that we exist both in the ethereal (celestial, spiritual, whatever you'd call it. i don't really have a name for it) and the physical plane at the same time. I would like to 'walk a city paved in gold' and all that other christian stuff, but it just doesn't make sense any more.

I would also like to think that I will be 'reborn' in some form. Whether it will be a physical form, i don't know. I don't know, maybe if I have a karmic debt then that could lead to another physical life. I guess i'm not really sure about this question.

What I would LIKE to happen is my energy/spirit/soul will join the Great spirit and become one with it forever. But I don't know, I guess it will be a surprise.

    2. Have you ever watched somebody die, either naturally, accidentally, or purposely (ie. murder, suicide)?

Not a person, but an animal. and yea, it was a perspective changing event. even if i did not know it at the time. A little animal changed my entire outlook on life.

2.a If you have seen a person pass on, did you notice the look in their eyes when the light faded and the energy left?

yes, the little animal. fucked my head up.

    3. And last but not least :

3.a Are you mentally prepared to accept how you've lived your life so far and die at any moments notice without having regret?

I've done some fucked up things to other people. That said, I've tried to make it up to every person/group/whatever I've wronged, but you can't always do that. I realized that what I was doing was wrong and now I'm trying to make up for it. So, if I died today, I wouldn't regret the evil things I've done, I would regret not making up for those things.

3.b and, most importantly in my opinion, are you afraid of dying?

In the past 6 months, I have answered some of my own questions on this subject for myself because I've really been forced to think about it seriously.

Two years ago, I would have said that I was afraid of dying because I would be punished for my evil deeds and tortured into eternity, but since you're asking the question today, my answer is that no, I am not afraid of dying. I am only afraid of how I will die.

great thread Krsna, btw, don't you have my AIM address? I think you do... we should chat.

What if what you want to believe what will happen after you pass will come true? It could all be that easy :).
