The principle is the issue here. It's the commercial exploitation of a captive audience of minors... it treats school children as a commodity.

IMHO that is way to a political stand point. I understand but it can become a diffrence/battle of ideology just for the hell of it, the power of the student and the radicalism ecxpected (if that makes any sense). I do agree and sorry if i sound my usual disagreeing self..just a thought thats all.

The point is how much we are prepared to allow commercial interests to have an influence on the process and purpose of education...

What next?... science lesson sponsored by pharmaceutical companies?... religious education sponsored by the catholic church?...

Might I remind you all that the tory party opened the doors of schools up to commercial interests... now we have privatised food services who do such a good job of providing healthy food for our children (hey, no way are we going to end up a nation of tubby lard-arse bastards like those fucking yanks... oh, too late)...

Commercialism is about providing customer satisfaction... you cannot equate this to the process of education where failure is as an important part of the process as success... we are on the slippery slope towards making education a worthless but seemingly successful process... sorry... going off on a tangent there...

    resist...

    Fly...

The annoying thing is the point that Matthew highlighted - anything I do could be interpreted as childish opposition to something that I have no proper opinion about. Any radical action that is taken could be considered to be rash and ill thought-out...

    Basically, I'm f*cked...

Not if whatever action you take is accompanied by a thoughtful and well argued case highlighting precisely why you disagree with advertising in schools. Like with any protest, the only way you can make a difference is by changing peoples minds.
