"Come Together" was butchered as well. The only cover I really liked was "I Want You [She's So Heavy]"
i absolutely loved this movie. i bought it the day it came out on dvd and had seen it about four times in the theatres previously. max is definately my favorite there's a few songs that i admit aren't my favorite, but i thought some were done very beautifully.
i posted this thread awhile ago... yeah, so i raved about how amazing it was and I really did love it but now I'm over it. my mom bought me the dvd for easter and i think i only watched it once since i got it after seeing it like 4 times before aannndd in reply to this: the movie was made as a story based around beatle's songs.. thats the whole thing about, so obviously without the music there would be nothing. and they didn't just add a character prudence so they could use the song, the songs are supposed to fit in with the plot and they do, hence why she is named prudence so the song is relavent to her.
Right. I thought it was an interesting new take on the song, asking Prudence to "come out," making it a reference to her sexuality and being open about it. I had never previously thought of the song that way. I liked it. It fit well with the rest of the story, what with her pining over Sadie and not being able to have her, and Sadie didn't even know... Her friends were trying to get her out and about looking for someone rather than staying in and being sad about it.
Hi Kids, No, I'm not being condescending (actually, I could be ur grampa) but I was there when all those songs first came on the scene. Of course they were ref things other than what was in the movie, but I liked the way they were used to tie together a comprehensive story. It was a novel project and I think it worked very well as a unique musical where the music had been around for some forty years (almost as long as me). It also portrayed an era that I (and the Beatles) witnessed. I found it very enjoyable and liked the new slant on old songs.
I just got back from Blockbuster and here on Miami Beach they are selling Across The Universe for $10, but it is also with the 4 for $20. Don't know if they do this everywhere, but might want to check it out.
would anti- sing a long moviers and anti- beatles fans love this movie? i seen a buncha previews on hbo of it and it looked too silly
I love this movie more than any thing else in the world. I think the actors do a great job in acting and singing. Especially since a lot of the scenes were sang live. I saw it as soon as it came out and its been my favorite ever since. I don't see how anyone could be too critical.
