i find a piece of duct tape slapped over my mouth for a few days to work really well. i swear, sometimes i have no idea what i just said until someone is looking at me with the most bizarre look on their face. i think the lack of sleep really kicks my ass in terms of being able to shut up. i also avoid people as much as possible. chocolate does help.
i have pritty bad pms, god help anyone who gets in my way because i can be a right bitch. i snap at people for no reason, i cry over everything (tho i am a very emotional person anyway), i get bad mood swings & i get rather irratable especially when i get really sore boobs. i cant take any kind of chemical contriception, the doctors at the sheffield womens health clinic have tryed me on every contriception pill going but they make me really violent & they increase the pms symtoms to much worse levels than before. i never really liked the pill anyway. pms is caused by hormones being out of ballance, the correct foods & herbal remadies can greatley reduce pms. i used to eat alot of white products, white pasta, bread, rice etc but i changed to whole grain products, whole grain bread tastes soo much nicer. i try to eat lots of legumes, beans & stuff, they arnt my favourite foods so i try to mix them in with something, make soup, put em in stews, mix them in mash potato etc. fruit & veg is a must as it is in any diet as is oily foods such as oily fish, seeds & nuts & drink plenty of water too. there are foods to avoid too, saturated fats, hydrogenated fats like margarine, avoid refined sugar, if i do want something sweet (i used to put sugar in my tea alot) i use a little bit of honey instead, salt is never good but i use sea salt instead of table salt. sea salt has naturally occuring trace minerals & they are take out of table salt. Reduce caffeine beverages, i'm not a coffee drinker but i love tea so i buy only decaff tea bags now. Reduce alcohol intake, this i find hard because i do like a drink but aslong as i drink lots of water & try & avoid alcohol in the week before my period i'm ok. i take a evening primrose capsuel every day & make a pms a tea which consist of 1 part red clover; 2 parts vervain, 2 parts scullcap, half a part liquorice. i mix the herbs together and just put one heaped teaspoon per cup & leave in water for 15 minutes. i try to have 3 cups a day, before meals, a week or two before my period. when i first started looking into herbal & dietry methods i searcherd the internet alot & found this website really helpful http://www.haelan.co.uk/Remedies-PMS.shtml there are a few different types of PMS acording to the symtoms that you get & there are different types of herbal remadies acording to the symtoms you get so its worth having a look but the diet is a must.
