No, I mean REAL butter made from the milk of non-rBGH treated, non-antibiotic treated, grass-fed cows. Otherwise it's no good. Even better if it's butter made from RAW milk.
how many people actually use real butter, I wonder? I think most people use margarine. This is what I use:
Here is a summary of the ingredients of various buttery spreads. http://www.labelwatch.com/prod_results.php?pid=361005 The worst are listed toward the bottom. The two at the bottom of the list have partially hydrogenated cottonseed oil, which is unhealthy, as are other partially hydrogenated oils. The Crisco company deserves an award for partially hydrogenated oils which it marketed heavily decades ago with its Crisco shortening (and its complimentary recipe book that told you to use tons and tons of partially hydrogenated cottonseed oil). Even Crisco has made an effort lately to use less unhealthy ingredients.
if any of us is ever on a game show that happens to ask a question about butter, well, we're in luck! ..
hydrogenated oil, that shit's fucked up. I saw something on pbs where a doctor said throw anything with that shit in the trash, go hungry rather than eat that. bpa is another bad one. they put it in a lot of canned goods, but it's not listed in the ingredients. apparently, canada has made it illegal, but not the us. they put lots of it in cans with pull tops.
The partially hydrogenated oils especially. They are trans-fats. Some companies are now using fully hydrogenated oils which are essentially saturated fats and not as unhealthy as trans-fats. Industry has loved partially hydrogenated oils and used them extensively because they have a creamy buttery texture and long shelf life. Fully hydrogenated oils have a harder texture. Un-hydrogenated oils are usually liquid.
A salute to Butter. Like a ship upon the water with no rudder. My life, meaningless it is without sweet golden budder. I'd gladly sell my sister, wife or brudder, Perhaps even my very own Mudder, For a single creamy stick of heavenly butter.
The rap version. Like a ship upon the water with no ruddah. My life, meaningless it is without sweet golden buddah. I'd gladly sell my sister, wife or bruddah, Perhaps even my very own Muddah, For a single creamy stick of heavenly buttah.
