I don't get that at all. I get that the ones who have went there, have found somewhere that they feel they belong and are trying to share their enthusiasm about it...

To be fair though, I went back and re-read the thread, and you know what? I still don't get that feeling.

I see a lot of people who are nothing but bullshit and head games, trying the same games on these people that they try on anyone that posts in these sections with an offer to share. I see people who have never done a damn thing in their life, trying to shoot them down for no other reason then they have their heads up their ass... I see people who will waste tons of these peoples time sifting through to get to the few people who will actually get off their ass and go do something.

But nowhere do I see anything that would in anyway make me think of their place as cultish...

Once again, we see why the idea of free speech doesn't match up with the reality of it.

The idea behind free speech is that people should be free to express themselves as they choose in order to open up communication lines between everybody...

Unfortunately, the reality of it, is that it allows the jackals and other predators, to express their hatred and derision of anything that could be good for others for no other reason then because they have the right to free speech.

i was thinking when i turn 18 id like to get a b2 visa(180 days) and travel somewhere. your commune sounds perfect. im not sure what skills id offer, but i love animals and children, i can stich up clothes and i can help out however.

Well, tickets have been purchased and I leave Sunday, taking a 5 day layover in Chicago to catch up with some old friends.

So short of the Apocalypse or some other nonsense like killer asteroids I'll be pulling into the train station about 10 p.m. but from all sources I've heard this will translate into an early a.m. arrival. :cheers2:

john is in texas and i can't seem to register i am using his signon...
i'm the owner of the farm and have been here going on 4 years
we are in the piedmont area called the southside just on the north carolina border.
the weather is temperate. seasonal changes pretty fall colors of oranges and reds from the maples and oaks.
i consider this area mild winters compared to new york. frost line is 18" but maybe freezes for a few days down to 1" if really wet.
the soil is sandy and heavy red clay mix - this is tobacco country!!!
hot summers too but you get used to them in time...
i heat with wood and use a cord 8x8x4 in a season and am very toasty...
the lettuce and cold loving veggies can be grown up to xmas with out too much cover..
the water buckets for the animals sometimes have a thin crust of ice in the morning but quickly warms up and melts. average off the cuff is 20-25 F nights and days 25-30F
it does dip but only for a few hours and maybe a week or 2..
well have to go feed the critters that's it in a nut shell...
suggestion - go on a weather site and keep checking the temp here...

whats the age limit? i mean coz if i get lookin into this i sort of dont wanna be the only one in my early twenties when everyone else is in there 40's. no offense to anyone though

 

Hello, I'm a traveler of sorts with a lot of skills, a strong back, and I love to learn new things. I'm not sure if this question has been asked but are there any opportunities for skilled trades work in your area? Sorry if I missed it somewhere.

I have never been in a place for long without having at least some part time side work to pay my way.

It sounds like you have your own piece of heaven there. I have never visited or lived on a farm like yours but it sounds amazing.
