Will do...I'm still in NJ waiting for my friend to drive a rental truck back, he started a new job, so it might be a bit longer than I planned.

I totally agree with Darkstarlight. Psychedelics have a purpose. Not a party drug but a tool for spirituality and enlightenment. imo

I know these things, but as mentioned, it's not what we want in this commune... I've been there and done that for many years, and have no ill-content for those who do, but now I(we) want different things.
But also, some know its a tool, while many other do use it as a drug and can very well become out of control, either internal or external.
If this was my place, I'd have more variety as long as it was low key and the locals knew nothing of it, but it's not my land, I'm just part of it, and I must respect the wishes of the owner, as should any who want to come visit or read this post.

Have you ever read or talked with anyone about why and how communes fail? Some lost their land and people to drug busts, others fail from NOT being nitpicky about their core members thus not having like minded thinking for the theme of the commune.
Yes, diversity is great, different people with different views is important, but each commune has different things they want to do and having a group of people that want the same thing is a good advantage to getting it done.
But when people go to a commune that don't grasp its conception and have their own idea's in mind(other than the main theme) then chaos causes problems amongst the group, the same type of problems we want to leave back in Babylon, so being somewhat picky for the good of the whole is our right and we're doing what we think is right.
Go take a look at other communes on ic.org and see how much more picky they can be, many demand a joining fee, monthly dues,42+ hours a week for work, or having to buy a parcel of land... not many have that kind of cash if any, I'm willing to share what I have to help out if someone wants to come for a visit and is low on funds. I have boxes of canned food and such, even some clothes if they need them... that's part of the commune spirit, helping without the thought of return, just because you want to and you know they need it.
Good luck on your search, keep at it and you'll find one right for you.

I'm still in NJ for a few more weeks, but we're still making a list for people to visit when I get back... pm me if you can or write it here some details about yourself, skills you have or like to learn, contributions if any and able that would help out, and things you'd like to see in a commune.

    20 y.o. male.
Raise chickens & ducks as a hobby (for eggs not meat). Also built a few very successful incubators for hatching eggs. (I could bring chickens and/or ducks with me if needed) My family and I also have cats and a dog.
I used to go to school to be a veterinary technichian, so I was trained to handle/restrain animals, and know some things medically about them.
Last summer I had a successful garden of broccoli, tomotoes, etc. (vegetables).
I am pretty fluent in a few instruments, my main ones are guitar, piano & harmonica. But I also play bass, mandolin, somewhat familiar with drums, and alittle experience with violin.
My father is an independant contractor and I have been on many jobs with him. So I know a few things about construction & working with tools, but not a REAL lot.

What I look for in a commune is many things. First off, I definetly want to live differently than I am now (ya know, different than the whole rat race scene). I want to be able to live off the land (for the most part), and have to work at living off the land (planting, harvesting, building, sharing, fishing, working together, etc.)
Another thing that appeals to me is the recreational time. When work is done I imagine most days don't just end there. Connecting with people, playing music, making art, etc., just the whole atmosphere of communal living just seems perfect for me.

I don't know if that is exactly what you were looking for, if not let me know and I will work on giving more info.

But I would love to come visit sometime. Just let me know if that would be okay.

    Thanks,
    Keith

Nice profile Echoes, we do incubate the turkey eggs and could use a bigger and better incubater and your other skills will be handy too. I like your spirit, music and recreation are important too when balanced with work. I'm self taught on guitar and frustrated not knowing the "proper" way to play, I just learn tabs and jam, would be nice to learn some things from ya.
Will it be just you or is the whole family interested? how many people? How much stuff do you have if asked to stay? We can store stuff in the old house, but are limited on living quarters, though we can prolly make use of the upstairs for a bedroom or two in the old house, but no electric unless you have a long extention cord and can help out with the electric bill.
We do have plenty of space for camping until we build other shelters and such.
Oh, are you good with kids? We'll be running program's for kids with nature and such to not only to teach, but to open them to new experiences and maybe learn respect.

It would just be me coming, not my family.
And I imagine I won't need to bring to much, I was hoping you could give e little more detail on the necessities I would need to bring, ( i like to pack light, haha).

Here's sometihng I should've memntioned before: My mother runs a daycare out of our house, so I am constantly interacting with children, and adults. So on the 'children & people' skills part, I believe i have what it takes.
I also have been working in a grocery store for 2.5 years in many diffferent departments.

yaya , the children ! i have an idea for a language toy that can be installed . it's made of 30 river stones set in a circle and at its center is a spinner . perhaps it is placed under a tree . it's a toy that makes words and these words are intimate with nature . i have watched children play with it - tis a wonderous thing .

language is good glue for a community .

Yes JuniperPandora, there are other kids there from time to time and moreso in the future...

Can you write some details about your self and any skills you have or would like to learn, any contributions you have to donate or share to help the community, can you support yourself or do we have to work out something, what things would you like to see in this community?

Sorry, no website yet, perhaps in the future when we're more established.
Please read over my posts and write something about yourself, any skills you have or would like to learn, can you support yourself or do we need to make other arrangements, anything you can donate or can share to help the community, what things would you like to see in a community?

Of course there will be kids, we have them from up the street every so often, most likely more in the future... we'll eventually be running a program for kids learning about nature, helping with crafts and projects, and respect.

Hey everyone, sorry I'm taking so long to get back, I found me a temp job to earn extra bucks before I go back, the dang moving truck's costing me $600.00 so I'd have little cash when done.

Estimating going back first week in July... Hope all is well with you, hope to see you soon.

    Peace and blessings,
    Spirit
