Yeah, I totally agree. Unfortunately our government has proven pig headed and hasn't listened to the public on a number of issues in the past. Irony of it is half of them have probably smoked a fair few joints, and partaken in a few cheeky lines of coke in their time, and yet they still maintain this outdated and irrational stance. If they were THAT bad, why would anyone want to do them?!
They don't care if people do drugs, or if they damage their health indirectly because of the prohibitive laws. All they care about is getting voted back in. It's as though they spent decade brainwashing society about drugs, and now that society seems to still be largely ignorant to the facts they are powerless to do anything to change it for fear of losing their jobs.
And the big story of the day is..... The queen's diamond jubilee. Like that story couldn't have waited til tomorrow??? Oh no I forgot they save stories like this for times when there is something else going that they don't want people to know about, like a global conference on drugs with various high profile figures calling for a more sensible approach. Dame Judi Dench, Richard Branson, Sting, three ex police chiefs and Kofi Annan.. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-13624303
Well, I figure it can't hurt to sign the petition, so I sent my name along! Quite impressive we are up to 750K petitioners.
