This was me in 1965, outta high school, first year in college when this picture was taken I was about a year and a half away from being drafted and a couple of years away from my first good pot. The beginning fever of the 60's had already caught me. I was in love with the power of my generation, we were gonna change the world in ways it could not imagine. I was starting to build my own dream of what my place in that world was gonna be...and I was having fun being alive inside my goofy young self. It was a case of innocence and purpose uniting. It was a good time And I was on my own bus heading for the ride of my life.
I appreciate what Logan 5 is saying. There are so many amazing things around today that we didn't have in 1968. But don't dismiss "The Summer of Love" as just another occurrence that you see in every generation. It was not. It was as if we were one being, engulfing whatever was in our path. A single entity of mind and spirit. You seem to dismiss the era as just another day - you can see the same thing today. That time was not just another day. Young people celebrating together by the hundreds of thousands - campus protest, communal living, a recognizable bond between you and others no matter what town or city you were in - even in new places one had never been before. "Screw the man - let me live" attitude. I was 21 in 1969 - I saw it, I felt it. You, Logan, were -1. You have your own era - rave about it. I will rave about 1967-1971 which was my time.
