I simply must read preceding posts with greater attention. Sorry!

My uncle was a Vietnam Vet and we went camping on the GA coast and he started getting bad vibes, all the vines and stuff reminded him of jungle trails where ambush was a distinct possibility. Doesn't really look like Vietnam to me, but there were enough similarities to cause a flashback.

    But I digress...
I would love to see a Hip Forums campout near by. Summer camping around here or even down on the coast is okay if you have shade trees, access to a swimming hole and you avoid the midday heat.

I find the very worse critics are the ones that were not there. I was there and yes, I'm experienced

ya know @ 14$ a ticketArtie and they boys were not making that much dough..Half the ppl didnt pay, they had to pay for everything, the bands, stage, lighting, sound, permits.

I dont remember anyone leaving when it started raining. It was a relief from the sun. Unless you got there late and were parked where you could move your vehicle, some may have left if they had small children or orther complication due to the rain.. but let me tell you something..You couldnt leave if ya wanted to bc everyone was boxed in and stuck in the mud. It was after all in the middle of a pasture.

The ones that showed were die hards, aint no rain gonna stop the party.. If ya wanna know the truth ask ppl that were there not a bunch of wanna bes.

I don't understand the last sentence. Isn't this thread about asking people who where there already? I don't see what truth and wannabe's have to do with this.
Of course this event has become so big also people that haven't been there may have an opinion. It will generally be an opinion about how it is perceived now though, not about how it was back then. Can't see why people can't have a valid opinion about that.

It's documented fact. But it wasn't right when it started raining; but throughout the rain and mud, the numbers dwindled. Most of the early leavers left the second night, if I remember correctly. Didn't want to stay in the cold and mud.

Though, I guess if you were there, you'd have no reason to watch Woodstock, or read about it =P

The only part I've watched over and over is Hendrix's and the place is mostly empty by then.

The arrogance of saying something like "ask the ones that were there not the wannabes", shows a level of maturity that is quite alarming from someone who must be atleast 60 years old, especially someone who seems a self proclaimed trancedental die hard woodstock survivor ? You seem to have quite a chip on that ego of yours oh ancient heifer .

But anyway, the best psychedelic experience I ever had, was on four trips, in a thunderstorm, sitting on a beach, shipwrecked aliens on the rocks, millions of the most brilliant gems covering the hills accross the bay . Soaked to the bone and in love with the world, even a thunderstorm cannot stop the orgasmic joy of the revelations of the universe unfolding before ones eye .

I went to numerous outdoor dance parties back in the early nineties that were as good as any other psychedelic gathering, now or then, I don't need anyone to confirm or deny that truth for me, I am a grown man, I'm just sharing my truth .

Saying woodstock was better than anything else, ie dance parties, is arrogant, naive and stupid, and not what raves or woodstock was about, any old hippies who take this stance are as short sighted as they claim the poster known as duck appears to be, atleast he has youth and inexperience to blame .

It is not a competition, it is a cosmic conciousness unfolding for all, now, then and forever, it is surreal, defying time and space .

To sit here and debate semantic points just says to me no one involved in this ridiculous thread really gets what woodstock, raves or psychedelic drugs are really about .

But thats just the view from my egos windows .

    Aha, thanks mate. :afro:

I have no idea why I've been posting in this thread so much. I don't like too rosie-eyed views of the past, especially not the 50s and 60s; and I did like the article OP when I read it previously; but it's not like a major topic to me.

I guess I just like being a party pooper on the Internet where I don't have to feel bad about it =S

You have me at a disadvantage sir, I believe you have mistaken my meaning.

What my meaning was: I was talking about the websites and wannabes there, not the folks that are posting in here. I was suggesting they talk to the ones that were there and take with a grain of salt what is rumored in obscure websites.

Yes, I may be Old, by your standards but my Spirit is ageless.I do however feel your hostile attitude is unwarrented towards me. You should investigate further before you attack.

I don't think Ocean was out of line. Maybe you didn't mean to say the people in this thread were the wannabe's but it certainly did read that way, and we're not mind readers to fill in what you really 'meant' to say.

But thank you for your clarification. I may not always agree with your opinion but I do really enjoy your postings.

Hi, I have the feeling he went a little hostile at all the people in this thread that like to proclaim woodstock to be a lot that other festivals have been as well, not just you. I have to admit I read your post the same.. I guess you could have specified that you ment peeps from other websites and not just the ones in this thread ;)

I knew what ya meant shameless, & agreed- -Many people claim to have been at famous events ,when in fact, they were not-
I must have run into 100,000 people who were in Yankee Stadium when Reggie Jackson hit 3 home runs in the World Series- -
I certainly didn't get the idea you were referring to anyone in particular or HipForums- sounded like a general statement -
The written word is often misinterpreted, and your little post shows how 3 or 4 different people didn't take it as you meant it -

    Anyway,going forword......

    bestregards,
    jjack

I still dont know what the 5 things are that Woodstock promotors dont want us to know.

I happen to know Artie Kornfeld and he certainly did not get rich promoting Woodstock

Don't feel bad. I think the original poster read something stupid on cracked.com, which is a crazy web site, and took it seriously, way too seriously.
