When I used to work on a Rugby Union team which I was like, work experience in my sports medicine degree, coach always yelled something I think every single defensive NFL player needs to hear.

"They don't run without legs".

Take the legs out. Wrap the legs up. They can't run. That's a Union style of tackle in a rugby match, one person dives and wraps up the legs. In the NFL they call this an "open field tackle" and commentators always say how you don't see it anymore and it's true they all go in with helmets and shoulder pads and half of them miss the guy and if it wasn't for three muppets running in at the same time... and still can't get them down sometimes where just a legs tackle and it's over.

I also don't like the "forward momentum" like if a player can wrap you up ball and all and drive you back 5 yards that's a fucken good tackle!! But the refs be like, yea. Nah, forward momentum stopped 5 yards that way. :unsure:

 

Worst rule in the history of pro football.

But.

As for the feet. Yes you cant run without feet but they can move in different directions. I was taught keep with the hips because the body can't go one way and their hips another way. (Oh yeah, that was in basketball, I never played any organized tackling games)

 

45 minutes before work is over me and my girlfriend are going over everything to make sure its done. She was training someone today. I said, we have to go check on 252, she says he is already in bed. No we have to go check on him. He is almost impossible to move at this stage.

He is lying on his back with feet touching the floor, has been for 3 hours. My girlfriend can't smell, and I can. We checked him and he had a blow out in his pants.

I said we have to get him into the shower. "Jacob he can't even stand." Nope we getting him in the shower. I grabbed him from around his shoulders and dragged im into the bathroom. We got him on the chair and we started to cut off his clothes. He leaned his head against hers and I saw it in her eyes and his, the sadness. We kept cutting off his clothes, their is literally feces everywhere. He is bleeding out of his penis and green liquid is coming out of his mouth. His was shutting down.

I was praying please let us get him back into bed. Talking to him out loud hang on man we almost outta here, stay with us.

We finished the shower. Cleaned him up, gave him new bed sheets. Dragged im across the bed and wrapped him up.

I looked at the trainee and said "welcome to the job"

The girls left to put his old bed sheets in the industrial wash. I laid down on the bed next to him for a minute, then sat with him for 10.

Cleaned the room like nothing happened.

The girlfriend came back and we stood over him and hugged each other.

We said our good byes and walked out.

He was a awesome man, the girlfriend is taking it hard.

Crazy fucking job.



Another lady died last night we have been looking after and around the same time as last night we had multiple room alarms go off and nobody lives there. Me and the girl looked at each other and both said her name.

have you ever played british bulldog? where you one side of the line is tackling and one side of the line is running and then you run at each other and i guess whoever makes it to the other end wins, and whoever is tackled goes to the tackling team and the survivors keep running until they are inevitably caught and game over??

i played that in school and i made some tackles

No. It sounds like a similar version of Red Rover. Everyone holds hands and calls someone from the other team. That person runs over and tries to break through the people holding hands. Same thing but there is no tackling.

Edit. Just Googled it and your game is a cross between red rover and chain tag.

I was the best at chain tag.

In my opinion, you have one of the most important, most difficult and most rewarding jobs a person can have.

 

You've got a big heart. I'm glad you're able to help people.

 

When the crazy things happen like last night i'm at my best.

I am the one you want around when you have to react and go with it during intense moments.

The job is very rewarding. You just cannot get attached or take anything personal. You do that and your good.

Mia played rugby all through high school. Those girls were all viscous, her included. One team mate broke two fingers, walked off, taped them herself and went back out. They all pretty much played hockey together as well and would do the same things.

They played hard and loved it. Crazy girls.

i can see jail time but the prison time i heard about is ridiculous.

 

Maybe because of the previous incident or because it was a child's party and a gun was pulled? Does seem to be a longer sentence than we normally hear of though.
