Hey Karl, do you read a lot? And what about book collecting (rare editions, etc.)? I used to collect American stamps and coins, but I haven't collected anything recently. I am hoping to start again - after this whole moving ordeal is over and done with. :)

Yes I read lots, however, although the house is full of books I don't deliberately collect them. Having worked as a librarian and owned a second hand book shop I'm cured of collecting the things. One exception is a small collection of first edition Australian poetry and far too many rose books. I do however collect LP's - remember them? - having something like 11 456 at last count. This isn't just for the sake of collecting them like stamps as I listen to them a lot. I haven't archived many of them onto a digital format as I'd be dead before I finished the job. Besides, as a silly old audiophool fart I actually enjoy the ritual of cleaning and playing them and feel there's absolutely no replacment for the covers and artwork.
I inherited a stamp collection from my father but wasn't interested so sold them for big money. The only other thing I could be acused of collecting is rose bushes but the size of my garden limits me to a few hundred to those.

Funny how this 'Three Things I Did Today' leads to all kinds of off topic raves.

No video but I have a collection of still pix from several of my trysts, including this one, which unfortunately I cannot share. Amazing little digital cameras.

Today I am having my first cup of coffee so forget three things already.

    Yesterday:

    1. Arranged a ride across county with my grandaughter-in-law to see the Wings of Freedom WWII planes in Ft. Lauderdale & saw my great-grandson in person for the first time.

    2. Crawled all around and thru a B-24 & B-17, taking pix and realizing how brave any man would have to be to go up in one of those war machines to wage battle. (my uncle was a pilot of a B-24)

    3. Spent the evening editing pix.

Yes, I remember all too well. I think you must own more LP's than any single person I have ever chatted with before. :)

I am curious about your thoughts on Janis Joplin singing the blues: I always liked her blues songs much better than the hard rock ones. I do know that her early influences were mostly folk and blues artists (Joan Baez, Bessie Smith, Billie Holiday, etc.)

But she is forever remembered (for the most part) as the Queen of Rock. Any thoughts on this? Oh, and regarding the artwork: Cheap Thrills is still my all time Joplin/Big Brother favorite.

That sounds awesome. I like the first pic best. :)

    1. Slept much too late.

    2. Had a long phone chat with my best friend.

    3. Still packing stuff (I need more boxes) :willy_nilly:

If this goes on we should switch over to the music section of the forum.

I inherited a lot of my LP's from the estate of a record reviewer so most were in mint condition. You can be lucky.
And yes, Joplin's blues are her best work. There's a sloppyness in the music world when it comes to defining what exactly is hard rock. Some of her so called 'hard rock' recordings are really blues given a whiteboy rock and roll arrangement. She had arguments with record producers over this.
As to favourite album covers I wouldn't know where to begin making a list.
One that comes to mind every time though is the front/back fouldout on Roxy Music's 'For Your Pleasure' album. The original wan't vandelized with all that crap and bar codes on the left. See below :- Not that mad on the music though. But hey, I'm hard to please as most of my listening is to classical music and you know how snobbish us classical music lovers can get.

You finally decided to drop by, huh? LOL. Totally glad you did. So what kind of beer do you like? And was this mysterious movie you watched any good? :)

    1. Had to wait around all day for the "relocation team" to come and take pics of my apartment (don't ask). :toetap05:

    2. Called my best friend and wished him (and his cat) a happy Valentine's day.

    3. Crashed at 7 p.m. (after being awake for 25 hours), but only managed to get 2 hours sleep. Anxiety totally sucks. :coffee:

Budweiser beer. Not my favorite, but the roommate bought it so I am not complaining.

The movie starred Miley Cyrus and it was entitled So Undercover. It was a pretty good movie.

    Three things worth mentioning today:-
1: Moved the steers in the back paddock and attempted to train my new dog to help. She did a fantastic job for a first attempt but it's in the blood I suppose.
    2:- Mowed the lawn.
3:- Had an appointment with my GP. Her last day before moving interstate.
I'll miss her as she's clinically very astute and fun to talk to. She's Tamil from Sri Lanka and so stunningly beautiful she could almost turn me straight.
    I said ALMOST !:2thumbsup:
