That's A LOT of LP's! Which recording artists are your favorites? I'm just curious :sunny:

Read the review, Shale. You brought up some points I hadn't thought of. My main gripe with the movie is the scene in which Jack is killed (or was he)? Was it really just an accident (as his wife claimed)? Or was she going through some major denial? In any case, I felt the ending would have been much more powerful if there was no room for doubt. Apart from that - I think it's an awesome movie. And I like your review. It was really cool to see how you have evolved as a film critic since 2005. Your recent Movie Blurbs are more polished (IMO). However, I like your style of writing in the Brokeback Mountain review: Direct, insightful, personal, etc. ;)

Yes, I am being forced to move. My building was sold, and the new owners are going to completely renovate it -inside and out.

This means that everyone will have to stay at a hotel during the renovation process :(

We've been told it should not take longer than a month, but I think this is only wishful thinking.

I also have too many books that are gathering dust. Plus I still have at least 400 movies on videotape, and a lot of other crap that I should have tossed in the trash ages ago.
Everything will have to be put in storage until we're allowed to return to our new and improved apartments.

The only good part of this ridiculous story is that the new owners are paying storage fees and the rent for the hotel room I'll be staying at. I guess I should think of this as a very strange vacation :)

Now if I can only manage to get off my ass, and get everything (including myself) ready to go...

Yeah, those three reviews were put on my personal page because they tapped into parts of my life to which I could relate. Did you read the other two? They were also written from how they impacted my life.

As for my 3 things today - I'm at work and miserable

    1. Woke up from a fitful night with less than 4 hours sleep due to anxiety about work.

    2. Made it to work, where I feel in a fog and miserable for lack of sleep.

    3. Drinking coffee, which makes me feel buzzed but still miserably fogged.
    :dizzy2:

    1. Revised and posted an essay on my blog.

    2. Trimmed beard (I'm way too young to be a Walt Whitman wannabe) :)

    3. Suddenly felt totally depressed about having to move. :(

    Yesterday:-
1: Picked up a young Belgian hitchhicker.
2: Pitched his tent beside the river in an isolated romantic spot. (Learnt that lesson from another hicker I picked up last year)
3: Rediscovered virility can be passed by a process of osmosis from a gorgeous young spunk to an old fairy like me. Maybe because had a beard , always a huge turn on for me.

    Today:-
1:Watered and weeded in the garden.
2:Emailed Heritage Roses in Australia Nth Tasmania Secretary with an outline for the preservation of the National Rose Collection with suggestions on getting the Australian Rose Breeders Association to join in that effort. The problem of maintaining a heritage collection of rare plants in the face of climate change discussed as well.
3:Received via snail mail & started reading "Otherwise Normal Poeple: Inside the thorny world of rose gardening and competitions" by Aurelia C. Scott. Hysterical. If any of you have seen the movie "Best In Show" you'll have some idea.

    Sorry I missed your question.
Recording artists? Well that's a hard one for me to answer as most of my listening is to classical music so I'd be listing symphony orchestras, chamber groups, organists etc. Of the non-classical I like Single Gun Theory, Massive Attack, Joni Mitchell, Supertramp, ( starting to date myself here with Geriatric Hippie tastes really.) The Who, J.J.Cale, Leadbelly, a number of ethnic and World Music artists - the list could go on but I suffer from musical snobbery finding only one or two tracks off any album I like. But hey, even mentioning 'albums' these days marks me out as an old fart. For instance, off the Dolly Parton, Emy-Lou Harris & Linda Rhondstat "Trio" cd I really only enjoy one song, 'Blue Train'. With classical music I invariably listen to an entire album. Of the classical artists I most enjoy I'd list Elizabeth Shwartzkopf, Deitrich Fisher-Dieskau and Lional Rogg amongst absolute favourites.
Even though I run a top flight audio system ( I'm an addicted audiophool) nothing beats the thrill of live music.

    2. Walked the beach, laid on towels got to know each other.

    3. Went to my apartment and played the rest of the evening. :)

What a sensible idea meating a blind date on a nude beach. That way you can spot his assets from afar and vanish if not up to requirements.
Hope he lived up to his name though. :cowboy:

I like Joni Mitchell and Supertramp. Plus lots of artists from the 1960s: Janis Joplin, The Doors, Jefferson Airplane, Bob Dylan, Aretha Franklin, etc.

I also like some classical composers: Beethoven and Mozart are my two favorites. Do you play an instrument? I play piano by ear, but cannot read a note of music. Thanks for the really cool links. :sunny:

Yes to Bob Dylan,The Doors, Aretha Franklin & Janis Joplin ( no one I know of has come along since with a voice like that).Dylan though is inconsistent to my ears sometimes sounding bored silly with a song. Songs like his 'Man in a Black Coat' & 'What Was It You Wanted?" from 'Oh Mercy' are fabulous though. He annoys me however when he gets up in the pulpit and preaches at us.
My instrument was the pipe organ which I studied for eleven years. Sadley the hypocritical goings on behind the scenes ( read downright evil!) at the Cathedral I was studying at put an end to my studies and cured me of having anything to do with the Roman Church for the rest of my life. I can still sight read though but don't dare approach a keyboard these days.

I hadn't connected my avatar with my experience at the cathedral but now that you mention it - - - - I first used it on Hi-Fi forums. Something about blowing my horn (no pun intended)
That shot of James Franco has me imagining ripping off his glasses and getting him to bite the pillow.
Oh, and three things I did today :-
    1. Caught two large rainbow trout up on the highland lakes.
    2. Cleaned leaves etc out of the spring at the back door & pruned overhanging branches.
    3. Cooked and ate the rainbow trout. YUMMMMMMMMM ! ! ! !
