    Well, I don't have time for all 10, but I will give one or two examples.

    The 1st Amendment deceased.

    Take a look at that link. The story I'm sure you've all heard about the student at UF who got tasered because he was "causing a riot". Not only does oppresing him violently because of his freedom if speech is considered brutal, but uncalled for.
    "Resisting arrest" has become a popular term aswell, may I bring up another right that has also been deceased?


    “Citizens may resist unlawful arrest to the point of taking an arresting officer's life if necessary.” Plummer v. State, 136 Ind. 306.

    “An illegal arrest is an assault and battery. The person so attempted to be restrained of his liberty has the same right to use force in defending himself as he would in repelling any other assault and battery.” (State v. Robinson, 145 ME. 77, 72 ATL. 260).

    “When a person, being without fault, is in a place where he has a right to be, is violently assaulted, he may, without retreating, repel by force, and if, in the reasonable exercise of his right of self defense, his assailant is killed, he is justified.” Runyan v. State, 57 Ind. 80;
    Miller v. State, 74 Ind. 1.

    “These principles apply as well to an officer attempting to make an arrest, who abuses his authority and transcends the bounds thereof by the use of unnecessary force and violence, as they do to a private individual who unlawfully uses such force and violence.” Jones v. State, 26 Tex. App. I; Beaverts v. State, 4 Tex. App. 1 75; Skidmore v. State, 43 Tex. 93, 903. "

    So much for resisting arrest violently as a crime right?
    Also, In every Political debate they have, they make "Free Speech Zones" miles away from the actual scene. Isn't every "zone" in America supposed to be Free Speech?

    In various instances, they have arrested people in Peaceful Assemblies. Do you not speak to your local Old Hippies where they have gotten arrested for Protesting the Nam war, PEACEFULLY. Oh excuse me, where are my manners. Perhaps you aren't too familiar with the 1st Amendment.

    "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

    Tell me, where in all of those articles, perspectives, and even FACTUAL evidence, do you see where the 1st Amendments hasn't fallen? Shall I provide more evidence?

    Both of these are clear cases of harrasment simply because the "perp" knows his rights, and is not going to be simply intimidated into total submission.

    The 4th Amendment deceased.
    "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

    "The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people." -9th Amendment

    Basically stating that even though they may have not been specific about some things in other amendments, we have the right to resist and be protected against anyone taking advantage.

    Although the word "Privacy" wasn't used in the 4th Amendment, it basically implies it, and the 9th supports that. So here's another one.

    Recently, Congress passed the U.S. Patriot Act.

    This act allows the government to read our e-mail, listen to our phone conversations and even see what websites we visit. They can also deem certain organizations as "terrorist" organizations and deport any non-native members.

    The NSA has ALL of our phones tapped.

    That is another instance in where an Amendment has been defiled. I no longer wish to continue, but know this. I've been studying political injustices for quite some time, and everything I said is fact, IS fact. And I am willing to back it up.

    You're absolutely right, and I agree with you. Things are fucked up and we all know it. You can watch videos all day long on youtube that show how we're becoming more and more a police state every day.

    But you can't say that the bill of rights is "non-existent". That's just not true. If it was non-existent, then NO ONE would have ANY of the rights mentioned. That's not the case. We still have a legal system that's functional, with an appeals system and everything.

    People can get off of DEATH ROW if they can show clearly in court how such and such right was violated. So, the amendments are still there to protect us.

    But yeah, the fact that the government keeps on stepping on our toes (free-speech zones for example) is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE.


    If you want to talk about a country in which you truly do have *NO* human rights, let's talk about Iran where you can be executed for political dissent or being gay. I don't think we're quite on THAT level, do you?

    Nah, we're definitely not on that level.

    But you see, that is the type of government policies you expect from those type of countries; From communist and 3rd world countries. Face it though, we basically OWN THE WORLD. We are the most dominant country on the face of the Earth, and we are supposed to be setting an example of how to run a Democracy, and if WE are running it corrupt, I wonder how all the other countries are going to be?

    I never said the Bill of Rights is "non-existent" and if I did, that's not what I meant. I just wanted to show you that the Bill of Rights, can and HAS been defiled before. That's not to say that the amendments are no longer in effect, just goes to show you that the government can do as they please now.

    Tell me something? Why does the richest nation in the WORLD, have starving children?
    A government is there to provide, protect, and serve its citizens. And NOT the interest of the multi-nationals. Sure alot of other countries have it worse, but should AMERICA, "Home of the free, land of the brave" see this nonsense? I think not.

    Because the American public has allowed it to happen. We've sold out as people and consumers. Every political decision seems to be market based. Every decision made for the benefit of Wall Street. Every argument is phrased around that benefit. Nothing much is ever said for what is ethical and morally the right thing to do.

    Utilities were sold out to the public on the back of the argument that privatization would allow the market to create more efficient and lower cost services. It didn't happen that way in California. Welfare reform was supposed to free up huge sums of tax dollars to balance the budget. Is it balanced?

    Corporations are allowed all the benefits of US ownership but out sourced our jobs and hide their money in phoney offshore accounts, without recourse...because it was good for the market.

    HMOs were pushed lock, stock and barrel down our throats because they would reduce medical costs and keep the level of care high. Not my family's experience.

    Our military was downsized in order to save tax dollars, yet we are paying Blackwater and their ilk 3 times the salary of GI that would perform the same service, without any liability or accountability. Haliburton has been paid billions to provide services that have been substandard and non-existant.

    Now low income housing in New Orleans is being demolished...why?

    Its the conservatives who backed an unconstitutional war, supported a president who stole an election, and often try to bring religion into government policies. Thats not even "bending," thats radical constitutional disregard!!...So no, I don't think its Ironic to bring that up. And if you didn't know already...being favor of gun regulation in no way is "constitution bending," its called a personal opinion.

    Gardener's spot on, Keynes would be rolling over in his grave if he knew of the atrocities that have resulted from the "free hand" of the economy. It's not free.

    As for the second amendment thing, my philosophy is that with power comes responsibility, and the most powerful people tend to be the most peaceful. Too bad that doesn't seem to work with countries, at least not ours, now that we've been hijacked by the bush administration.

    I've been a martial artist for twenty years. I own guns, and I'm a good shot, but you'd never know it if you saw me on the street, 'cause I'm laid back and peaceful. I think we as citizens have a responsibility to be strong, so that we can stand up for what we believe in when it counts, provided that we possess a social conscience and can empathize with our enemies.

    Might for right.

    I'm on my way to purchase myself a gun. Illegal. It will be well hidden and not all that easy to just grab on a spur of the moment. But if things go the way I think they might, I WILL have the ability to hunt for some of the food that will be necessary to feed a lot of extra people other than myself and immediate family, and I WILL have a source of protection or at least intimidation if it becomes necessary. And nobody will convince me that is a BAD idea. Being prepared for what ever comes along is SMART.

    Actually pretty much EVERYONE, left or right, backed that "unconstitutional war"...not just conservatives. Of course, that was before the truth about the WMD'S and such came out.

    Conservatives "often" try to bring religion into government? Laughable.

    That sounds to me like an unfounded stereotype. When's the last time our government

    EVER

    tried to impose Christianity on you?


    To do so, would be contradictory to my definition of conservatism. I'm *so* sick and tired of everyone claiming the sky is falling, on this seperation of church and state issue. I don't see a problem. What I DO see, are statues that have been in front of courthouses etc. for GENERATIONS, being ripped out of there because of hysterics. I also see the long-standing tradition of the pledge of allegiance being banned from schools just because one atheist man in California didn't like it.

    That's what I see, friend.

    wow big woop. I never liked saying the pledge of allegiance. I was always scolded as a kid for not saying it. I could care less if kids had to say it or not.

    I am a Christian. Im not upset because someone is trying to impose christianity on me. our PRESIDENT claims that he is given divine guidance in his misguided policies around the world. and OKAY, the christian right has no influence in conservative politics...now THAT is laughable!

    And no, not everyone backed the war. I certainly didn't.

    The constitution gives US citizens the right to bear arms. The only way that can be repealed is through a constitutional amendment.

    Not true. How much of the prewar protests did you ever see or witness in person? We were there.

    Many protested it and tried to be heard. But big money won out. We were sold out. And the dumb followed the marketing. We still hear the arguments that if you don't support the war you don't support the troops...give me a break!

    There's a terrorist around every corner, and only GW can save us! He did such a great job saving so many after Katrina.

    Yes, you are absolutely right. In SOME instances. But the "big dick" thing is far too great of a generalization. Last time I checked, I didn't have one. Or do I, you'll never know. Mostly the big dick thing has to do with DEER HUNTERS in these parts, not murderers. Actually, if you feel the need to overwhelm someone with your gun, you most likely have a very SMALL dick...

    When was the last time you saw a gun shoot someone by itself without a person to point and pull the trigger, or at least without a person messing up by leaning it against a tree with the safety off...?

    Bad guys will always carry guns. I will not put myself at a disadvantage by "using an alternate method" because there is nothing that compares in lethality and range to a gun, except a gun.

    Bad guys do not reason. In the heat of the moment, you will be the luckiest man in the universe if you're able to disarm a gun-toting thief by asking him to talk so that you don't have to take a life.

    Bad guys steal stuff. And those of you who have said, "I'd rather him steal my stuff than kill him," you're just plain stupid. Go ahead and let people do what they want and walk all over you.

    Bad guys kill people. Again, maybe you'll be lucky and never encounter this, but there might be a point when someone wants to break into your house merely to rape you and kill you, or worse, rape your spouse and kill your spouse. I bet you'll wish for a gun then. I bet the real life victims wish they'd been as lucky.

    Bad guys get what they want. Gun bans are not going to get guns out of the hands of the criminals. Period. Criminals will always get their guns. It's the same idea as hackers; hackers will ALWAYS be able to hack the highest level security computers, because no matter how many safeguards you have there will always be people with the knowledge of how to break it, and information like that spreads like wildfire, causing new upgrades to security which solves nothing because the same genius hackers continue cracking and sharing.

    For the record, I don't do "statistics" very often, but just take a look at the crime rates and severity over the last 60 years. Since the disciplinary actions for criminals has gotten less and less strict, the crime rates have soared ever higher, and I'm NOT talking about just because of the increase in population.

    Criminals have nothing to fear. The turnaround rate for criminals going back to prison is ridiculous. They don't give a damn; prisons are just a walled in ghetto. I've even heard firsthand that it's easier to get "things" in prison than on the street.

    So, let's go ahead and tell all the people who just want to protect their lives, the lives of their family, and their possessions that they are no longer allowed to protect them and theirs.

    And we'll tell all the law-abiding criminals to bring their guns in for melting down. They'll be sure to ask for a receipt.

    Some of you might be interested in this:

    Firearm Homicide Deaths: 68,350
    Firearm Legal Intervention Deaths: 1,850
    Firearm Unintentional Deaths: 4,543
    -
    Total Homocide Deaths: 106,689
    Total Legal Intervention Deaths: 2,332
    Total Unintentional Deaths: 625,328

    So if you're anti-gun because you're worried about an unintentional firearm death, you don't even make 1% of the total of accidental deaths, so stop acting like it's some enormous problem that happens multiple times a day in every neighborhood in the U.S.

    If you're anti-gun because you're trying to stop criminals from using guns, look at the uneven numbers from homicides and legal intervenes. That's about a 45/1 ratio. Disarming people will only make that worse.

    Lastly, if none of this has made an impact, look at that 600K number, related to accidents ... it's the highest number of any. So, do we start taking away skateboards, airplanes, cars, lawnmowers, power tools, sewing machines, kitchen knives, fans, glass products, and chewing gum as well?
