27 Dead in Mass Shooting at Elementary School in Newton, CT

When I heard the news I needed a drink. I made it a double. Now I feel like smashing something.

We've been through mass murders before but this guy targeted children. 20 children & 6 adults dead, only one wounded, that means they must have been killed execution style.

I don't get it, I just don't get it.

 

Society today is to blame for all this crazy shit. Think about it. In most households both parents work. Today is it so much easier to turn the damn tv or Xbox on for your kid than it is to sit down and spend time with them. Also along those lines...back when I was growing up we spent our free time with friends playing outside rather than sitting in front if a tv playing Black Ops with some so called " friend " 1000 miles away. It used to be that you knew the name of every person that lived on your block...now most people are lucky if they even know the person next door.

We have become so involved with our own personal lives that we don't have a clue as to what is going on around us till something like this happens and then we all sit around trying to figure out why and when it all went so wrong.

Now I'm not saying this is the main reason for why this kind of stuff takes place but I do believe it plays a major part in it. Whatever it is that's going on we need to figure it out so this never happens again. I can't imagine what it would be like to have my kids go to school one day and then to never see them again. This just doesn't make any sense at all !

What the hell could have happened in that twisted young man's head...I'm glad he killed himself. Is that bad for me to think?

 

i wish he was still alive so we could maybe get an explantion for why he did what he did.

This just raises too many questions for me to even think about it straight.

The news mentioned that there have been more mass shootings in the country since July 20th than there were in the 60s or 70s. Ambiguous wording aside; what the hell are we doing wrong?

In this technological age: why do we let people buy this much of an arsenal?
When this kinda thing is happening, why do we continue to glorify violence?
Why don't we know our children, our neighbors and friends enough to know they need help?
Sometimes, I swear there is a mass--cultural-suicide going on that none of us are aware of.

There was a mass shooting in my city this past summer. I was going go to the library and someone told me the neighborhood was all closed off.
It was a former patient that shot up a mental hospital (a well-reputed but apparently very terrible one). In the confusion they weren't sure if he was the only shooter, so part of the neighborhood (the main one in the city) was closed off, and the area was being searched.

I get this strange feeling that's unusually certain that if I were at a mass shooting event, I would be one of the ones killed. Every time I hear another one happened, I get this strange conviction. I don't like it. I wonder where it comes from.

Does anyone else have this?

Yes, I know exactly what you mean. Then at the same time I also wonder would it best to be killed or survive & live with the utter horror & trauma of the event?
