awesome pictures. i have to ask though, what is that lateral structure underneath that rock overhang on the last page?
Those are photos of some really great country. We really don't have anything quite like that over here. The big thing is the water which we dont have any of but again I can't complain. I hear you about what mining has provided the country. I couldnt talk on the internet tonight except for the fact that they've stuck a tower out this way for these services. Its just that I reckon that they have to stop and think for a moment before they do it only for profit. There aren't too may wilderness areas left. Anyway you got some really nice country there. Its pretty flat and dry here but for some reason I can't leave it for more than a few weeks. All the best to you.
I understand what you mean about not being able to stay away for too long. I drove cross country here a few years back. Hit 20 states, covered 8160 miles on a meandering route and saw just about every type of countryside this country has to offer. I thought the huge forests were cool and the ocean is always beautiful but when I get back to my high desert here in AZ. I know that I'm Home. Home with a capital "H." It seems that I just have that peaceful feeling wash over me when I'm here.
that is soo awesome twodogs... you dont let anything hold you back from anything... you just do it... myself i had 2 children between the ages of 17 and 20... i work my ass off so that we can make ends meet but we have a nice little family and i am happy and content for that... but if there is one thing in like that i can teach my 2 boys it will be to get out and see the world travel and be you and do you and live in a van, lol, and take in this country for what it really is before it is slandered to pieces by media and government... then have children and a wife when your old not like your ol dad, lol... i thinks its really awesome waht your doing and you are living my dream hopefully i can pass this is on to my children so they to can exprerience the things you have... thanks for the stories two dogs
Thanks for the kind words. I know that my lifestyle isn't right for everyone. There's an awful lot of good to say about having a family, even if you have to work really hard to make ends meet. I knew at a very young age that I'd never be responsible enough to be a good father or family man. I guess I'm just too lazy. Maybe it was fear that my parents wishes would come true...that one day I'd have a son just like me. Who knows. Anyhoo...I found the life that agrees with me. I don't believe that everyone should live like I do...if they all did I'd never find a peaceful place to park.
What a cute puppy! Congrats on your new baby, and good job nursing him back to health. Looks like you've done a great job.
I have been reading all your posts within this thread over the past few nights and I have to say you are an inspiration TwoDogs, it is sad to hear about your dog. It is cool to hear about your new addition to your family though. Your story is a good one for anyone to get to know and I would have to agree with the several other posters who stated they would love for you to write a book. I know I would buy it. Your a good guy and I hope only the best for you!
Wow man this sounds like everything i really want to do in life.. Just live out of a van or camp and experience the world for what it is. Not the watered down cultural crap our brains feed on today. I sorta do this all ready playing music in 2 touring bands I've been on the road for months and it really drives me nuts when I'm not out there on the road. Glad to hear from similar minded people. Truly amazing stories!
Thanksfor the kind words. I have written various chapters, mostly about the darker, "bad old days." I'm waaaaaaay too lazy to ever sit down and write the whole thing. I'd much rather spend time cruising the desert with the dogs.
I'm doing pretty well, all things considered. Thanks for asking. Updates? I'm fixing to post some pics of the Spring desert. I've just been out enjoying all the new growth and pretty colors with the dogs every day. Not very exciting to many, but it's been a blast for me.
Touring has got to be great. See a lot of places and meet a lot of people. It must be nice to have musical talent. My one great talent is avoiding work. It's hard to make that pay...moneywise, anyway.
