"my only two problems are i have a stupid car loan that i owe $12,000 and my mom want me to join the army. The car loan is a small issue compared to the Army one" -quote of chuckvidler

    REPLY
the army is no place for people who are uncomfortable with the idea of having to kill, unless the country just drafts everyone, in which case you would have no choice

canada's military has a great history of proud volunteers, i can say that most (but defnitely not all) serving CF members are there for the right reasons, which should not include money
although i must say canada has one of the best paid militaries of the world

i also live in vancouver, bc and need a cheap place to stay in the future
i am thinking of going hammock camping most of the year and live in the woods but will have a casual or part-time job

i think having modern housing is nice, but not when it is destroying your income
nomads are quite interesting as are friendly gypsies and i think canada should have more people living in its less populated areas

    thats terrible news :(

rest in peace two-spot, you will be dearly missed!

that was a beautiful picture memorial you put up, i feel like i knew two spot personally.. and your loss hits home even here on the east coast, a couple thousand miles away.

i know first hand how hard it is to lose a pet, yet i can't imagine how hard it must have been for you.. i know your dogs mean so much to you, and are so much more than just pets. that was one very blessed dog, to have a companion as good hearted and true as you are. you gave him a life far better than about 95% of pet owners can provide for their animals. one day you will meet him again, in some other form :)

keep us posted on how you are doing, reading your posts always brightens my day and brings warmth to my heart.. you are a good soul friend, dont ever forget it :)

i hope you find another beloved four legged companion soon.

P.S. The prescott valley area is beautiful. I will be moving there in a few months, when I get out there, I hope I can be so fortunate as to be able to meet up with you. Id be honored :) I just got back from visiting the area, and I always kept an eye peeled for that van of yours.. I took a trip up to Jerome for a day, which was very cool, I enjoyed that a lot. lunch at the haunted hamburger was great too!

Again, my condolences for the loss of your dearly loved pup. Hope to hear from you soon!

    Best wishes TwoDogs

I've spent a lot of time reading this thread, and I do have to say twodogs, I thought I was alone in wanting to do these things. I've been inspired by many people who have, in the past, done things like this. For example, Everett Ruess, Christopher Mcandeless, John Muir, etc. I thought that this way of life which I dream of living was dead, but to find out that it's flourishing leaves me awestruck. I really take my hat off to you twodogs, and feel deeply for the loss of your friend. I am currently living in Portland, Oregon and am growing very weary of this place. I have taken three trips on the Oregon coast, highway 101, riding my bike as far as I can in a day, and then camping on the beach, which the Oregon beach laws are among the best! But now I'm ready for the big time. My heart yearns for the desert, I have only been once when I was a child and it was Oregon desert. I long to see the beautiful canyonlands, the painted hills, solitude. I have to say that you pulling your teeth must have been really hard, one day I will have to do it as well, for I'm am not one that can afford most anything, let alone dentistry. This is my first post as a new member. I hope that you are doing well, and that maybe sometime shortly in the near future, we can meet. I would love to converse about various things with you. Thanks for taking the time to share your wonderful experiances with us, and I thank you on behalf of everyone that you've replied to. P.S. I too have seen and met that woman of temptation, Little Debbie. I try not to see her, but I always find myself saying... :prettyplease:

spent most of the night reading this thread and enjoying the pictures of the desert, had no idea such a wild place could be so beautiful.
and then it came to the last few pages and my heart dropped when i saw that you'd lost your friend.
i don't have the right words to say what i feel in my heart for you, but hope that when time heals a little, you will be back here, sharing your amazing story with us all, and to let us know that you're ok.

First of all I'd like to thank everyone for the condolences and kind words. This has been a rough time for me...Two-Spot and I were closer than I was with any of my other dogs. There'll never be another like hin and I'll always remember and cherish the memory of my time with him. But...it's part of life and the living have to keep doing just that...living and enjoying life to it's fullest.

Thanks again for the words, folks, they've been a helping hand during this time.

Styrofoam sheets comprise most of my insulation. The only place I have fiberglass is in the doors and the front and back sections of the roof where it's tapered.

At the insurance office with money. About $600 a year.
That's been dealt with many times in this thread.
Fairly easily. You see flour gold everywhere in the goldfields. Decent quantities, or larger chunks of gold are harder. I don't know how much...maybe a couple of thousand dollars.
Everywhere. Yardsales, thrift stores, swapmeets, etc.
    Personal what?
When people at the grocery store back off about ten feet and are coughing a lot I know that I'll need to take a shower in three weeks or so.

Thanks dude. If you were in Jerome you could have looked down into the valley below north of the town of Clarkdale and with a good pair of binocs might have spotted my van parked on top of a hill.

Let me know when you make the move.

I love the desert. Some like trees and ocean or whatever but I feel most at home in the desert.

Okay folks...I climbed right back into the saddle. I went to the pound, and on the third trip I found this little guy. He's already had a rough life...abandoned, spent 11 days in a cold outdoor jail cell, had his little nutsack scooped out and two days after I took him with me into the boonies he came down with Parvo. I thought I was going to lose him too. I took him to the vet. I couldn't afford the 6 or $700 it would take for hospitalization, so I bought the stuff to try and heal him in my van for $139. Fluid drip bag and needles, antibiotics and antivomit medicine. I had to hang the bag in my van and get fluids into him for three days to keep him from dying from dehydration. He's okay now.

These pictures cover the five weeks that I've had him with me.

Congradulations on finding a new friend, looks like a cool dog. Love the pictures, cant blame you for snatching him up, who could resist those big brown watery eyes? Great job nursing him through parvo, thats a tough one and I'm very glad too see he made it.
