Hotwater explains Newsweek’s and the left’s agenda here:
Recessions can kill people. This is basically admitting that the left doesn’t care how many people must suffer, or even die, in order to spin the entire narrative to make the opposition look awful.

This proves that leftists like hotwater and those who like his post don’t see people like us humans. But as sacrificial pawns

Massachusetts today has started a phased reopening.

See that wasn’t all that bad, six weeks no sweat.

But you couldn’t tell that to the mostly Trump supporters who were protesting at state houses from here to Siam bitching and complaining like the little weasels they are.

"Now, the panic is much closer to home. A Treasury memo leaked last week showed that there is concern in some quarters at the escalating costs of fighting the coronavirus.

The alarm raised by the document’s anonymous authors was that, far from being a one-off financial hit, the coronavirus pandemic will cause the economy lasting harm and the debts built up during the crisis will, at least to some extent, recur in subsequent years."

Debt will soar: the government must just stay cool and focus on growth | Economics | The Guardian

So, his opening remark is essentially that we're not supposed to say anything about businesses who potentially facilitate the spread of the virus because it's their livelihood at stake. I don't think I agree with that. Maybe it's the contrarian in me or maybe I'm having some kind of reaction where I feel like I'm in my safe zone so to speak so long as I adhere to the law.

But it seems like common sense that if there's an infectious disease you need to respect the official position.

He went to Florida for UFC - sat down and had a steak like a gentleman. Why does that seem very fucking cliché?

It doesn't sit right with me - even if they're joking - that they want us to abide by some kind of schoolyard bully justice or that "snitches get stitches".

I think everyone can see what level of maturity any of that represents. Honesty? I don't think so... I wouldn't call it that.

I don't follow any of his speeches or whatever he does so I don't know. I don't "podcast". It doesn't bode well with my horse sense. So I honestly don't know what he's like, but this isn't the best first impression.

Which is where a lot of the trouble is coming from

Low level politicians are making a lot of these decisions. State and local council reps

And some of them are totally getting off on the power trip

Why isn't the "official position" federal and standardized?

You can swim at the beach, but can't sunbake? Shit like that makes no sense

I think that has to do with inadequate leadership at the highest levels... It's a problem.

Therefore, I guess that the official position should default to the CDC or the WHO (funding or not...). I think an educated position is paramount.

Trump taking unproven drug to ward off coronavirus

Asked what was his evidence of hydroxychloroquine's positive benefits, Mr Trump said: "Here's my evidence: I get a lot of positive calls about it."

(Sorry VG, I haven't got time to go and find the trump-covid thread)
