Aren't you for a comparable reason in the Trump score card thread? Don't act like you're better.

Let's say if he and the people around him would take his own advice literally he would likely have experienced how mild this virus can be by now :p

He might be that fabled 400 pounder in his moms basement.

Then he would be in a risk group and likely more seriously concerned.

The one thing that has been painfully obvious throughout is the distinct lack of faces, photos, interviews, videos we are seeing of the vast majority of victims that are in the 70+ age range. Close to 100,000 deaths now, you would be hard pressed to find so much as a handful of photos of those older victims on the internet, YouTube

Plenty of stories of hey, young people, please care about this, young people can get it to, with interviews of younger people that went through everything from having a cough to having to go to hospital

I still count around 12-15 people under 20 that have died from this, which is way way too few to just be random and not be about very rare underlying, sometimes undiagnosed conditions

They know full well if they start showing too many faces of the vast majority of victims. Younger people will just switch off.

All these politicians, those running media outlets, even the ones heading police forces...they are all boomers

There is no voice for 20, 30 somethings in this, no part of the decision making process. Even though they represent most of the newly unemployed and even though it is mostly that age range staffing the police forces and military

They were all too quick to throw the futures of young people and children under a bus. And I think they are all going to end up paying for it far more than they realise

We get into another Great Depression situation, no one is going to give a shit about spending a bunch of money on aged care, health care, subsidized medicines mostly old people need. It will be everything in any governments power just to keep the crime rate down, stop rioting and protests and get the economy back on track which is driven by young people

Just short sighted panic for a pandemic that isn't even that serious as far as pandemics go

So, VG.... How many boomers did you toss into the furnace today?

So you think that governments would have been better off with less of a response and less reaction, because the extreme nature of this reaction is bad for young people, the real drivers of the economy (and who are at less risk of being severely affected by the virus)? Let the older people die because ultimately they will die soon anyway and just end up as a burden onto the economy, regardless of the pandemic?

    Kind of a utilitarian approach?

I just typed out a very pessimistic post but fuck that, I don't want to give in to doom and gloom yet

Instead...what are you guys going to do when this is all over?
I want to buy some sundresses and pretty summer clothing. And take a road trip. And go for a hike. And go to the beach and then go to this bar I like thats right on the beach and sit on their deck overlooking the ocean and have a beer. And then take a walk on the beach at night and look at the moon.
And go to a baseball game
    Plan a trip to Europe
Get together with friends and hug them and be silly with them

Honestly? I don't even care about the shelter-in-place orders or the social distancing. I want to go out to eat! :tonguewink: Lol... I guess I want to shop too. I miss the stores. Guitar Center, GameStop (I wouldn't go within 50 feet of a video game from that place right now...), the outlet mall (we have a nearby outlet mall). But particularly, I am truly looking forward to treating my self to a full service restaurant; complete with vegan (or rather plant-based) cuisine.

:D That's my heart on it.

Buy a Giant Pin Board that takes up about half the space of my bedroom wall, some yarn, some pin tacks, 200 pages of blank paper, some pens and markers, a cheap tie, some tin foil and get to the bottom of how this all happened.

No, just quarantine old and high risk

Preferably move as many of them as you can to the country and spread out in hotels, field camps etc

Business as usual for everyone else

It should have been a two pronged approach

I forget the exact figure but some survey was taken by sports fans regarding responses to the pandemic and I heard somewhere in the ballpark of 2/3 of the population said they wouldn't go to a game until about 3 months after play resumes.

I would like to go to a concert or festival. I think it would be that much more special but unless I find one that serendiptously happens around the time society opens up again, I probably won't go to one just to go to one.
