  1. I think it's good if this virus is teaching people to appreciate life, which is really each other.

This quote reminds me of when I was in New York last summer and this construction worker on his lunch break, this very stereotypical working class, brusque New Yorker, shared a table beside me at this outside eating area with an elderly couple from the midwest he didnt know and spent an hour telling them all about New York and what it was like growing up there (and I spent an hour eavesdropping).

New York does love everyone and it's sad to think about it being completely shut down

Ibiza seeks to "move" tourist season to November due to coronavirus

They are trying to shift the tourists... I don't think it will work though. Not sure what the weather is like in November, or if we'll be out of the tunnel by then. Hopefully.

I'm not going to Ibiza anymore though, for other reasons. I would have thought they'd have shut their airport before coronavirus had a chance, but no... they didn't. I don't know how many cases they have, but it's nothing compared to mainland Spain.

    Falcon Paratroopers and Families,

CSM Stockard and I appreciate your patience as we navigate through the impacts and uncertainty caused by COVID-19. Thank you for all your hard work over the past few weeks. The work you do, your performance, and your sacrifice continue to matter as we maintain readiness for our upcoming deployment. The nation depends on us to be ready and your ability to do so during this difficult time is why we exist.

Starting on Wednesday, 25 March, we will only have the minimum required Paratroopers at work to complete our must-do tasks for deployment. This includes out load-specific tasks, SRP, RFI, weapons qual, HHG/POV storage briefs, MRAP rollover training, finalizing load plans, loading containers, and inventories. The work that we do over the next few weeks is critical, and lives depend on us getting it done.

As we complete these tasks, we must ensure that we are protecting ourselves from COVID-19. We will maintain six feet of separation, limit gatherings of 10 or more people, conduct distributed meetings, and lastly, practice good hygiene by washing and sanitizing our hands and surfaces where we work and live.

We understand that COVID-19 has placed you and your Families under significant hardship with issues such as CDC closures, school closures, and more. Continue to communicate these challenges with your chain of command. Our commitment to you is that we will help work through these issues while ensuring the Brigade is ready for deployment.

CENTCOM is putting measures in place to ensure the health of the force, and we need to prepare for the requirement of completing a 14-day quarantine before deployment. We’re uncertain about what it will include, the limitations, or conditions. The worst-case scenario is that it could require that the unit enter a restrictive quarantine. We’ll continue to update the formation on what this looks like as soon as we know more.

We appreciate everything you and your Families have done and sacrificed during this difficult time. Together, we will work through this to ensure we are protected from COVID-19 and ready for our deployment.

    COL Jason Curl
    CSM Shane Stockard

I mentioned to my friend that it gave me a tremor of alarm to see that people were panic buying seeds and food growing equipment. He said he'd been trying to buy a cross bow and all the websites that sell such things also have messages about unprecedented demand. Haha. There's a lot of people out there preparing for the worst.
