how bout all of you guys stop wasting your time with your silly superstitions and worrys about the future and live for now! stop pretending you know anything about the future because you dont, nor do i. do something more constructive with your time and work for peace and happiness now! even if its personal peace, its better than constant worry and superstition. get outside or smoke a bowl or something... even if you expect some hightening of our consciousness or something, it doesnt have to wait till 2012! work on it now, stop wasting your life! be here now! please! just let go of this nonsense, you will be happier i promise! you dont need pointless crap like this to give meaning to your life...go have fun! peace

oh and another thing, i do believe that the mind is quite powerful, and that if enough people get on the same level they can will anything to happen...inclusing nuclear war, the destruction of the usa etc... So hows about all you guys focus on peace and maybe we can have that instead????

Personal peace indeed! At least for me.... I dunno whatever gives you peace, ya know? Kick it to some good music or meditate or something. Whatever you can do. The point is that you may be wasting valuable time thinking about a future event that may not even happen, and even if it does, you dont know what it will be! I try not to attack anyones beliefs, but can't you agree that the present moment is one thing we know we have for sure??? Make right now your 2012 enlightenment or what have you!

personal peace is needed for helping others the best way you can too.
it's why i studied what i studied and it's why i live the way i live.
but it seems you assume i just hang around thinking about the future but i sure don't! hahaha omg i don't, if you just knew me a bit better...
and really i don't think the other people posting on here are wasting their lives to thinking -about whats to come years from now- either.

 

Sorry if I came across critical or anything...it's just always bothered me when people act as if they KNOW absolutley whats to come when they could just be living happily now. I assumed that you people didnt spend all your time thinking about 2012 or the future...it just comes across that way sometimes. Peace!

oh , yes , we do touch the future and it does affect the present . the experience is just so common . i'll consider it fact , but i'm not feeling smart enough to be making time theory out of it .

And I agree that God doesn't speak in dates. I believe that God transcends time and space, and that time is only an illusion we created to make a little more sense of things. But agreed, prophecies are crap. Again, I do believe we can will things to happen, but that doesn't mean it was some divine plan.

And sure peace and love are more needed.... But, i still think and feel that we are going to a new era... and peace and love are not enough.... we need peace and love AND someting else: peace and love can make you passive and lazy .... We need to wake up a special part of our selves...... trust me, it's like opening a door inside you, and you'v got a new..... but peace and love is not enough to get that.... For me, it's was more about the mind, not so much my feelings, but i guess i'ts different for every one, because this is a more INDIVIDUAL age we are entering, BUT NOT ABOUT THE EGO, but sure, you've got to learn to love first, then........??

and i aggree that time requires a better deffinition then the fairy tale of peace and love and lions lying down with lambs, an aligory at any rate.

but it well be a time when the gratification of creating and exploring is not occluded by idiots wanting to beat each other over the head.

a time when evergy is still available, but not so abundantly as to take for granted being wasteful with it. and none of it generated by burning anything.

it will be suffiecient for very small, highly effecient trains, refrigerators, and the internet, but not for the lights of vagus and broadway, or rubber tyred personal transportation of the sort all too dominantly familiar today.

and most of it won't come from big power plants either, but the roofs of nearly every enclosed structure, and every dam and windy hilltop.

it will come when survival leaves no other choice but to be ecotopian in an easy going kind of way.

who knows what the answer is...i just hope that something amazing happens in 2012 because i personally am sick and tired of the way life is now. something needs to get rid of all of our technological needs and reliances like me sitting on this computer.

guys, i think our generation will be one of the most important generations in the history of life. i don't know why, or how. but i can just feel it. the way that society is heading right now, there just needs to be something HUGE that will happen that will...awaken us. i dono. i just hope i was put in this generation for good reason because as of now i sure wish i was in the last generation.

but i do say that you should live out your true dreams in life and not worry about school or following the capitalist ways of life (unless your dream consists of capitalism, actually, mine does to an extent). just do whatever you need to do to be happy whether it's looked down upon or not. (i'm talking about what truly gives you peace and happiness, not something that gives you evil pleasure like killing someone). Just...LIVE. and don't worry about a thing...

I know a lot of you are spetical of there being an end times because especially what happend with Y2K and the Christian prophesy that the world would end in 1999. But here this... obviously there are a lot more Christians in this world so that would cause that kind of stir there. Who is to say Christian or the Chineses calender is the "right" calender just because they are more popular and still used to date?

The mayan calander has been the most accurate calander to date. It's been so precise and it was made a LONG time ago way before all the other calandars... They recorded so MANY dates why not make it a little longer? Why stop there and why not way before considering they'd know they'd be dead now at this point for absoultly dozens of generations.

I'm not trying to say just because a calander ends means it's the end of the world. That' silly. But it would better to see if there was some kind of prophecy linking to that. That would be intresting to see.

Also it's not confirmed it's the end of the world. And I'm not saying we should just panic and do crazy things because we think we are going to die. That's just craziness. You have to look to the future but this post isn't really about people stopping there lives over a relgious prohpecy but rather what you think is gonna happen in that time.

Me? I personally believe there is going to be something. I just have this gut instict unlike all the other times with my casual "yeah, yeah, sure, sure." reply. What that something is... I got no idea.

The Mayans never predicted any major chatostrophic event in 2012, 2012 was more of an arbitrary end of how they calculated their calender cycle, and when the mayan society thrived around the 900's, it seemed pointless to adapt the calander any further.

Mayan societies still exist in latin america, enfused with mezo-american societies.

The Mayan calander isn't superior to the modern gregorian calander, despite popular rumor, and what's more it's arbitrary considering they didn't predict the end of the world at the end of their calender cycle.
