Sadly, I doubt there will be a complete turn around either, butwith a democrat back in office, or at least anyone but McCain, there will DEFINITELY be some change for the better. The vast majority of Americans are against the war now, thank God, and we just need someone in office that would put an end to this bullshit. I know you don't believe a democrat-especially Obama-will get us out of Iraq, but I have to remain hopeful, otherwise I might as well move to Canada.
Then there's the issue of the superdelegates and if they will go along with whoever has the higher delegate count, even if someone is ahead by only one delegate count. Also, MI and FL are mounting a campaign to have their delegates counted after being nullified for defying party rules by having their elections a week earlier. It could end up in the courts like Al Gore's recount in 2000. Gore's attorney in 2000 was on the TV the other day promoting a redo of the primaries in MI and FL. Lots of room for shenanigans. .
No matter who is elected the USA's economy is going to be in shambles before they are elected. Who ever wins is not gong to be able to do anything about it. Pick your puppet. It really does not matter.
true about 'the economy' but not about mattering! there's more to life then the u.s. or even world "economy". one of the things we're going to have to learn if humanity is to survive the next few decades and on into future centuries, is how much more valuable life giving breathable atmosphere, healthily drinkable water and eatable food, and livable shelter and then all the creating and exploring that actually gratify are, then the state and dynamics of symbolic value. and there clearly is a choice of who is most likely to be able to not stay bought by major economic intrests and who is most likely to kill a few less million people then who else. =^^= .../\...
Pretty much how I feel about the election. No matter who is elected, the changes needed to fix this country need to start with the people.
that also is true. but not voting won't make it happen. one of those changes is people need to research issues that intrest them and vote on THOSE. that where reall differences can be made. of course not just voting for them at election time, but lobbying and demonstrating and so on for them, and then the all important votes at the cash register which are always counted too. really learning and understanding how those things really work too. not just going off half cocked with the first idea that sounds good without really looking into it. and i mean looking BEYOND the dynamics of little green pieces of paper too. =^^= .../\...
I plan on voting, I always do. How can I voice my opinion if I don't vote? If I fail to vote I am accepting a fate chosen by others. I research the issues and candidates, try to see the truth through the bullshit and cast my vote. I merely state the obvious that change has to start with the people. "We the people"....the very foundation of our country need to stand up and say "enough is enough." We accomplish that by voting, talking to people, educating ourselves about what is going on, writing letters to politicians, volunteering our time to organizations we believe in, and so much more. As one person I can make very little difference in the world, but I can make a huge difference in my own life and that of my children.
