Well first and foremost I have the freedom not to (so far) fear that anyone is going to hunt me down and lock me up because of what I type into this forum. I think that is a big one right there. I have the freedom to change jobs with out permission from the state. I have the freedom to sell my labor at the highest price it will bring. Now do not get me wrong I do not have as much freedom as I think that I should have. Nor do I think that I have as much freedom as the US constitution says I should have. I am also aware that many of the younger readers of this forum do not have the freedoms I do. The same goes for readers who have less education, money or do not happen to be the "right" skin tone. All of that is wrong and we should all be working on changing these problems. However, the US is not the worst country to live as far as freedoms even if it needs improvement.
Well, the freedom to use this website for one thing. The chinese censor the internet, for example. Saudi women can't vote or run in elections, for another example. You are a fool if you want to deny that our society enjoys more freedoms than many in other parts of the world.
Comparisons do not skirt the issue. You are skirting the issue. You asked "what freedoms?" (in bold with lots of punctuation), implying that there are none. So in response we have listed some that we enjoy over less fortunate citizens of other nations. Disagreeing with you and citing examples is far from trying to side-step the issue. It's laughable how little a clue you obviously have. If you are trying to imply that I am conservative YOU are gonna end up eating your words. Not to mention I don't need to learn anything from you, politically related or otherwise. You're just off on some blind hate America rage, forgetting all the while to make sure you sound intelligent. Please stop making liberals look bad. And chill out a bit. Thank-you.
I read this post.... I think it is more not taking notice..and for somebody to not say why don't you join up . Responding 'why don't you join up' when somebody says something that cotradicts the general thrust of a thread seems a bit like some people never wish to have their opinions shaken. Seriously..what is your problem ?.. i can't fathom why you are so hostile. I guess i am wasting my time asking..
http://deanesmay.com/posts/1119286929.shtml but this a lie http://www.lies.com/wp/2005/06/24/esmay-on-us-deaths-in-iraq/ Notice at the end of the analysis it say something like ''enough of this clusterfuck how can we bring our boys home'' Wich is fair enough..but misses the point
Both of the links show a lot of "fun with graphs" type stuff but what is the point. Deaths in Iraq are going up: deaths in Iraq are going down. You pick one I do not care. The question is --Is it in the national interest of the US to lose a single man in Iraq. That is a question I have yet to see answered. Hell I think I would come closer to supporting the war if we were going to bring home their gold and women. At least then, we would have something to show for the effort. When and if we leave the three major factions in Iraq are going to still be there. There are surrounding countries that have a vested interest in which group controls Iraq. They will stir the pot with arms and sanctuaries. So are we going to keep an army of occupation there keeping the three sides apart? That worked out well for the UK in Ireland didn't it. At least with the UK they started the whole mess in a sense so they had an obligation to try to stop it. But what is our motivation. To free the people of Iraq? Hell the world is full of people who are not free. Where do we stop. If we are fighting a cultural war against Islam then say so. Beat the Drum and go after Saudi Arabia. They are providing most of the money and support for the Islamic renaissance. Some one give me an objective and a desired outcome for this war.
