Hiking up the Pacaya active volcano in Guatemala, with molten lava just inches below the knarly crusted ah-ah rock under my bare feet. I must admit, this was the most extreme place I have ever gone barefoot. Talk about exfoliation! Even the tops of my feet turned white from the abrasion after running down the steep banks covered in loose lava pebbles.
