Thanks! They were backcombed. I palmrolled in the beginning but eventually stopped and just let them do their own thing.
They'll grow differently. Maybe a little smaller at first. If you want thick ones then let the smaller ones, when they form, to grow together....

Ah, it could be that you didn't rinse it out enough. Baking Soda doesn't come out as easily as soaps and shampoos so you have to really rinse it....
