I love naturals, but I think the backcombed or twist and rip dreads can turn out pretty nice (i like mine hhaha), I don't like the ones which are...

whahah don't worry :P i use conditioner all the time, your dreads won't fall out because of it ;)
that's no felting needle though
oh the strange sound is hair breaking off :S so I'd say just use a crocheting needle, works the same way but doesn't break off the hairs.
felting needles are bad, I used 'm too on my tips, to make 'm round, when I combed the tips out the hair was just broken off. But using felting...
And if they don't get thicker you can also just put some together by putting a bead on 2 or 3 locks, they'll grow together in time then.

if you want only a few, I'd backcomb, if you'd go natural, all your hair would probably lock up. Just backcomb a few, maybe put some beads in 'm...
I knew I guy who went to a salon, which told him to use orangejuice and wax :S that must smel very bad :S But anyway.. here's my day 1 waxy pic...
Well, if they aren't backcombed very tight the wax will probably come out by washing. If your locks have matted already THAN the wax won't come...
