Churches call a lot of their local meals pot luck dinners or just Pot luck for short. Now that pot is legal in a lot of locations. Do they still want to call them pot luck?
Well I'm sure lucky enough to live almost next to the beach here on the east coast of England. It's a mighty quiet beach and I like to sit there meditate or simply listen to the sound of the waves.
For me, it's primarily nature and music. Sensing the complexity and beauty of the world, I feel a warm joy spreading within me. Every trip to the forest, to the lake, to the meadow... makes me feel incredibly relaxed. It's the same with music. It calms my thoughts and makes me focus entirely on the sound. I can meditate or dance. But each time, it's a perfect relaxation for my mind
avoiding the ridiculous, manipulative and negative broadcasts on TV 'news'... such as political arguments, weeks-long kidnapping coverage of people totally unknown to me, to think: groups of people 'deciding for me' what deserves my attention and emotional drainage.. nah.. I enjoy the simple things: time with my wife.. adult kids and my three granddaughters.. 6 mo, 2.5 years, 6 years.. so lucky our kids came back to our small city in mountains, bought homes, have great careers and all of us less than ten minutes apart.. bring here for them and watching them grow as I'm aging helps me
It's great having them settled close by.....far enough where they have to call first, but close enough to pop in for dinner when they can. Oh, and of course, I am close enough to fix things....
A chair, in the middle of the woods. The only noise is the wind blowing through trees, the birds singing. And a occasional chipmunk or squirrel.
