The 'nutty' adjective was mostly behind my back. .
Pumping heat from the extract air in the theaters, rather than firing the huge boilers to heat water for the wash basins in summer caused huge amusement until people realized that it worked.
I will never forget the reaction when I passed 11,000 volts into the water to heat a theater where we had no flues for boilers, The heath and safety inspectors really did think that I had lost my marbles on that one. They simply could not understand that the metal tanks created a star point in the 3 phase supply, equating both the current and voltage to zero.
