No hunter with ethics would kill a cub - laws or no laws. I've been a hunter all my life and I care more about the health & future of wildlife than the average non-hunter does. An ethical hunter respects nature, all animals, and is thankful they exist. Non-hunters who have no qualms about habitat destruction, pollution, development of rural and wild lands, abuse of our national parks, wildlife refuges, and forests for oil & gas drilling are much worse for ANY animal (including humans) AND the planet. Rump is just making another ill-conceived move on his "chess board" playing to get votes by legalizing killing bear cubs on National Park lands. He acts like a big tough guy ………………….. but has lived in a gold-plated (literally!!!) penthouse all his life. He's lily-white and squishy. I'd pay to see him around a bear!!!! :grinning::tongueclosed::tonguewink:

Ethical hunters take surplus animals - and not just for a "trophy" to hang on the wall. My family and I eat what we take - we DO NOT waste it. If that seems cruel to anyone - it's quicker and cleaner than a sledge hammer to the forehead of cattle or a spike driven into the heads of beef and pigs. So if you eat meat of any sort, or use leather goods of any kind - it comes from animals.

Due to man's habitat destruction, overdevelopment of open space, monetary interests ( think cattle, pigs and sheep) - wolves, cougars, bobcats, etc. have been killed off in big numbers. Those are natural predators of all types of wild animals. Without them, deer and other wild animals overpopulate to unhealthy levels, and then disease or starvation kill them in slow agonizing ways. And in many places, deer invade suburbs and eat the landscaping of homeowners - who then hate deer because they destroy their shrubbery. When wild turkeys overpopulate (common these days), they often get "black head disease" - which is a horrible way for turkeys to die slowly. Ethical hunters actually aid the health of today's wild animals. We abide by the laws and regulations so future generations will still have wild animals to see, photograph, and enjoy.

Another positive message came from the Pope - he made it VERY CLEAR to American Catholics that he's against racism in any form, and supports the peaceful protests over the murder of Mr. Floyd. He even mentioned Mr. Floyd by name 3 times in his message. He made clear that abortion is NOT the only thing to concern voters. Violence toward anyone at any age is wrong. Hunger, indifference, inequity, disease, intolerance, are ALL wrong and need to weigh on voters' minds as well. Pope Francis also used Dr. Martin Luther King's words as part of his own message. Pope Francis spoke against racism, intolerance and division. He specifically was addressing U.S. Catholics who he said - for too long have only focused on abortion, while ignoring other evils.

    I LOVE IT !!!!!

Shades of the U.S.S.R., Hitler, Mussolini, et al. I just recently watched a documentary about Hitler's "storm troopers" who went around the Germany beating, torturing, killing, and imprisoning protesters who voiced their opposition to the Nazi party.

And remember ………………….. Rump has repeatedly praised Putin, Xi Jinping, and Kim Jung Un for their "strong leadership styles." Witness Rump's authoritarian methods of "ordering", "hereby decreeing", and issuing "executive orders" over all manner of issues & topics. There is no one in my lifetime who has trampled on the Constitution like Rump has. He admires dictators and their authoritarian regimes …………….. because he wants to BE ONE.

Rump's comment about COMMUNIST CHINA'S leader, "When President Xi speaks, his people sit up straight and listen to him. I like that. We need that here." It's on VIDEO AND AUDIO TAPE.

^^^^^^^ Sound like freedom to anyone????? ^^^^^^^^ Or a love affair with dictatorship & absolute power ??????

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

As bad as Trump has been over the past 3 1/2 years there's nothing that can't be reversed.

That's why this election is so important, Once Biden is in and Trump out in November we'll quickly return to the status quo.
Trumps dream of a wall stretching across our southern border gone, the space force disbanded, his environmental policies reversed,
Even Federal Judges can be impeached for cause if they lied to congress during confirmation which at a few Trump appointees are
alleged to have done. William Barr out on his ass and under investigation by the new AG, Trump now vulnerable to prosecution
by the offices of the US attorney, Southern District of New York.

And I won't be dumb enough to get near a demonstration the police think can so quickly turn violent that they turn up in riot gear

Biden seems like a is a small ‘c’ conservative moderate who is unlikely wanting to ‘rock the boat’ and I also fear too many people are going to think that once Trump is out of the way everything can return to ‘normal’ which I my view would be dangerous

Sorry the genie is out of the bottle and the road map to an American dictatorship has been sketched out if no serious road block are put in place then the highway to hell will be open for the next right winger that wishes to take it and the next one might not be as dumb as Trump and then the US could really be in trouble.

And it is that fear that authoritarian regimes are counting on to dissuade people from demonstrating against them.

Lolz, you have a lot more to worry about over your side of the pond over the next decade

And all thanks to a three month breakdown in common sense because of a virus

And by your side of the pond I mean all of continental Europe as well as the UK

^^^^^^ Balbus - That's why I said what I did in post #24 on the "Gun Owners Against Tyranny" thread. If a power-hungry right-winger gets in as President, they'll use Rump's examples of trampling on the Constitution, and instead of defending the people's right to own guns (2nd amendment) - they'll be coming to TAKE THEM AWAY FROM CITIZENS so they can't be rebelled against, attacked and shot. The LAST thing an authoritarian regime wants is an armed, opposing, rebellious citizenry.

    Kind-of makes sense, doesn't it???

The 2020 U.S. Presidential race is in full boil, with odds shifting on a daily basis. Even though political betting is not offered at any legal or regulated sportsbook in the United States, the European counterparts to US sportsbooks have robust betting markets.

Bad News For Trump: Presidential Election Odds Daily Tracker

    Losing on the betting sites.

I am done I liked the dude but his police state bootlicker bullshit is too much for me.

This is the year a 3rd party candidate could take the presidency if they played it right.

Trump's praise for China over Tiananmen Square years ago was a preview of his support for military crackdowns on the George Floyd protests

    excerpt:

"Thirty years ago, Donald Trump said that China had shown the "power of strength" when its troops massacred pro-democracy demonstrators in Tiananmen Square the year before. Trump's words foreshadowed his general disposition toward protesters as president, and offered a preview of his support for military crackdowns on anti-police brutality demonstrations in the present day."

The thing is that the Nazis never made a move to take away guns form their supporters.

Here is a slighted edited post from a previous gun thread -

In a democracy the best thing is to not elect into office the kind of people who show tendencies that indicate they would have no problem in setting up an authoritarian state, remember the Nazis got voted into power then took away the ability to vote them out of office.

As I’ve said, I think at the moment there are many on the right who would be happy with an authoritarian regime in place if it was right wing.

And remember the citizens that are armed in the US are mainly right wingers, and many of the gun lobby people I’ve talked to have clearly shown a dislike even hatred of lefties.

So if there was what was described by the right wing media and government as a ‘left wing’ conspiracy to take down such a controlling right wing government, which side do you think the majority of the gun owners of America would be on?

It wasn’t the Jews that were first sent to the camps it was the socialists.

And remember the gun owners in the southern states of America that did not protect their fellow black citizens that’s because they supported those tyrannical regimes.

In the US you don’t have an armed population you have a minority of armed people with a certain political bias, an armed faction that is threatening those that don’t think like them with death if they do things they don’t like even if a majority of Americans vote for it.

Trump is getting his reopening even as the virus takes another swipe
    Analysis by Stephen Collinson, CNN
Updated 12:22 AM ET, Thu June 11, 2020

Trump is getting his reopening even as the virus takes another swipe - CNNPolitics

    excerpt:

"Trump says the virus is now reduced to just the "embers" and "ashes" of a spent pandemic as patience for nationwide lock downs fades and states aggressively open up.

The facts say the opposite. Another 1,299 Americans died on Tuesday and more than 112,000 people in the US have died from the disease.

Trump is not marking these deaths, just as he was reluctant to immediately honor the first 100,000 Americans who passed away before that terrible milestone was reached -- barely two weeks ago. And this is well before the feared fall resurgence of Covid-19, in the absence of reliable treatments and with a vaccine still months away."

    Stone Them
    OMFG Trump

    Stone Them

    excerpt:

"Let’s start with this question: Did Maine Senator Susan Collins really believe what she said when she stated The Don was “chastened” by impeachment? If she did, she should be voted out of office for stupidity? For her lack of insight in to the nature of Malignant Narcissism? Suffering from a delusional disorder? You choose.

If Susan Collins was just doing Susan Collins- the hand wringing, the pretending to be a tortured soul of an independent mind- then she should be voted out for insincerity? Hypocrisy? Cowardice? You choose.

In essence, this was another Bret Kavanaugh moment for her. In the Kavanaugh debacle, somehow she managed to find compassion and acceptance for a rapist’s actions. Let’s make that two sexual predators actions, as The Don belongs to this club as well. The great defender of women’s rights? Women should vote her out.

Susan, I hope your tortured soul is keeping you up at night. Your lack of courage and duplicity (and all Republican Senators but Mitt Romney), and your ability to rationalize The Don’s behavior in Ukraine as not worthy of conviction, has enabled and unleashed a man with a rapacious appetite for power and vengeance. But somehow I am imagine you and your Republican cronies are sleeping fine."
