At the rate he is going, Kickstart my Heart may need to be taken more literal.

    that's funny.

it does look serious. He's quite obese. I think he did that on purpose; otherwise how do you get so big from being not-so-big before...

fantastic! one of hubby's cousins is expecting their first child, about a month before me. that takes so much social pressure off of me. first babies are so much more exciting than "expecting again"
we were just talking about how we are the only ones with kids so far. i was waiting until easter to show off the belly publicly, but im glad they announced before hand, i wouldnt have been happy stealing someone else's thunder.
hubby has loose lips though, and told his dad months ago, so for all i know that whole side of the family already knows, but whatever. i can lay into his dad if he didnt keep the secret. not that i need another reason to be fed up with the drama and bullshit that they spew.

I know it's a saying everyone asks the dad if they went in for the delivery and these days most dads do at least I think they do but what I was wondering is how many women absolutely do not want the hubby in that room?

Me for one. I don't plan on having kids so my answer doesn't really count, but if I did I would absolutely not want the man there.

I wasn't allowed in for the first one since it was an emergency cesarean (she was put under general, so not like she missed me haha). Second one (also c section) was planned, so I got to be there.

with the twins i had hubby and my mom both present, and usually most hospitals limit you to one support person in the OR. maybe it was because there were two (though two support people takes up space that the extra nurses probably could have used) or because i was in bad shape and nearly died (pre-e progressing to HELLP) but i was awake for it too.
with my VBAC i had hubby and mom as well, though i actually hadnt planned on mom. she got a couple good pictures so it worked out. hubby was my support person, but really i had already done my research so i was my own doula, and he was like a backup, lol. but he did good, and reminded me of things as necessary, and advocated for me. good job done.
this time i wont have mom. and it might depend on timing as to whether i have hubby, because of course we have kids at home that need tending. they will be 13 and 4 when the new baby comes. id like to just leave them home, but it will be better/ safer if theres a real adult present, so hopefully we can find a sitter.

i think that if the hubby is disinterested or under-prepared it would be best to leave it to the baby-havers and their support people. the first go-round all mine had to do was sit there, hold my hand, cut the cords, get handed a baby, and cry. which he did admirably. but the doctor had to do the work. the second go-round we had talked about what i wanted to have happen, what i didnt, and a lot of other stuff to have the best chance at success. there is huge value to having months to discuss what-ifs and back-up plans. but if he were a fainter, or easily panicked, it would be better to have him out of the room.
