  1. Next day..was our last day in Oslo..we were gonna take a train north..
towards Trondheim..we went to the central railway station..
to book an overnight sleeper..we made a whole itinerary by trainpass..
it would take us first to Trondheim..that's central Norway..
then Andalsnes..trip to Geiranger fjord by bus..
then towards Lillehammer+Elverum..after that Al to visit my former girlfriend..
then Flam via Myrdal..after that the city of Bergen..and back to Oslo...
I planned it well..it was a fabulous holiday...one to remember for sure...
    now..Vigeland..listen here..if you're into art and sculpture..don't MISS this..
Gustav Vigeland....put his soul into Vigelandsparken..with 212 sculptures..
where the human being is the central viewpoint..go see his*monolith*...
    it's a 121m.high..all human bodies..holding each other..or supporting each other..
remarkable..it's ART with a big A...I tell you...I'll post some pics..

click turn..to see the parc in a different angle....
    there's a fountain...and a well laid out parc..ideal picknick spot...
this bloke..started in 1924..died in 1942...and in 1950..most of his art was
placed and finished in this Vigeland..don't miss it,please...
we collected our luggage in the railway station...we kept it in a locker..
and took the overnight train to Trondheim..it was O.K...
    hey...Norvegian trains...are luxury..it was very comfy..
I'll report about my trip..after Norway..my travel journal might end up..
in 1996 and 1999 we went to India..for family visits..
I thank you all..for reading my travell adventures...
I might continue it...and keep it as an information thread..
    I might stop it??I don't know yet..

  2. So..breakfast in a Norvegian Youth hostel..means buffet..
    cereals,different kinds of breads,curd,fruit juices,meat,cheese etc..
coffee or tea..whatever??it was all there..and it was good..
    we took a trikk=tram from Sinsenkryset(Youth hostel)to railway station...
a walk down to the ferry point for Bygdoy island..I bet there was a bridge?
taking a ferry..is bit more of an adventure..the breeze, you know?
reaching Bygdoy..we went to the Vikingship museum..now listen here..
    this museum..is a must..standing in front of these ancient*drakkars*
called Oseberg and Gokstad..found somewhere near Oslo..
are treasures of an ancient seafarers past..the Vikings..well..
what more to say??go and see their craftmantship in this museum..
they date from the bloody 9th century..well..what can I say more??
then to stand in utter admiration of what these folks represented??
if you do Oslo..go and stand in front of these ancient ships..

it wil be something else..then a computer image..we often get pushed
into nowadays..anyway..we enjoyed this museum..I'll find a link..
the Norsk Folkesmuseum is again an open air museum..with old houses,
    stavkirke=churches of wooden structure..without 1 nail in it..imagine??
this museum holds more then 150 old buildings, who take us back in time..
lots of farmhouses and their interiors outlay..old beds..kitchen tools..
    http://www.norskfolke.museum.no/
click English on this link..because..it's displayed in Norvegian...
both these musea..were really worthwhile..and a high in our Norway visit..
these musea..like many other in the world..show us..
there was a world..before the computer age..where we all..have to picture us...
in a bit of a different angle of ourselves..grasp??what I mean??

  3. Oslo is a beautiful town..situated on the Oslofjord..
first day...we took a tramway=trikk..from the Youth hostel..
to the central Railway station..from there we walked the whole length
of Karl Johangate...a street lined with shops, musea, caf?'s,restaurants etc..
which leads finally to the Royal Palace..it was a sunny day in August..
lots of people strolling around..for Oslo folks it's a place to be seen..
the shops were not for my wallet..we did not do any musea that day..
the Slottsparken near the Royal Palace is a nice place to just sit and
    relax..specially on a sunny day..Norvegians love sunshine..
the Royal Palace itself is a very beautiful building...nicely situated on a hill..
we went into a supermarket..bought some cheap food..as told before..
Norway is a very expensive country..we went to Radhusplassen afterwards..
to find out in the tourist office how to go by ferry to Bygdoy..
we took tram and bus..since we bought some transport pass..
close to Aker Brygge which is near Radhusplassen..lots of open air caf?s..
it's the harbour district...lots of boat traffic..a fresh breeze was welcome..
overlooking the harbour..is a castle called Akershus slott..
our ferry for Bygdoy would leave from near this place..
we intended to visit 2 musea next day..Viking ship museum and Norsk folkemuseum..
both were worthwhile..we returned by tram to the Youth hostel..
had our evening food there..had to be reserved in the morning..
  4. We reached safe by train from Copenhagen(Denmark)
in July 1993 I contacted a former girl friend..a Norvegian..
I had a crush on her in 1970..worked on her farm for 2 weeks..
surprisingly enough...she invited us to her place in Al..
we booked a plane ticket Brussels-Oslo with Sabena airlines..
and an 8 days unlimited train travell pass for Norway..
we flew one sunny day in August 1993..Oslo town...nice place..
    Fornebu airport..bus into town..tourist office...transport card..
I knew my way in Oslo town..spend some days there on earlier trips..
we stayed at a very nice Youth hostel called Haraldsheim..
I would recommend that place..it's on a hill overlooking Oslo..
it was not cheap to Belgian standards...high living standards in Norway..
Norway is never cheap anyway..it will never be...
we got a double room..with private bath and toilet..
very well organised youth hostel..friendly reception..
and oh..the breakfast was included...and in buffet style..
I will tell you peeps about our Oslo visit..
we did Karl Johansgate,Vigeland,Bygdoy musea etc....

  5. It was nice to take an hydrofoil ferry from Copenhagen to Malm?...
not cheap though..but quite fast..about 45 minutes crossing..
reaching Malm?(Sweden)was allright..we took informations on Malm?..
we wanted to visit Lund..a small university town with cobblestoned streets,
    a cathedral to write home about..and a museum called*Kulturen*
    so..we booked a return train ticket Malm?-Lund..
Sweden is a country with a very high standard of living..
the trains were very modern..and comfortable..
so..we reached Lund..and set off for the cathedral..very ancient..
a mixture of architectural styles..very good sculpture work inside..
what attracts tourists is an ancient astronomical clock inside the cathedral..
around the cathedral..it's a pleasure to investigate the little streets..
typical brick houses to be seen..an old grocery store as well..
    the museum*Kulturen*was worthwhile..folkloristic,ethnografical,art etc..
history, old musical instruments,clothes,paintings...this place had it all..
    http://www.kulturen.com/01_besok_oss/kulturen_eng.asp
we went back by train to Malm?..and yes..it's an harbour town....
we went to explore a square called Stortorget..old buildings all around..
    back to Copenhagen..last night..next day..express train to Li?ge(Belgium)
