Re: political correctness.

We need honest discourse in politics

But i do feel it needs to remain polite and should come from a place of empathy and understanding. If being non pc means insulting huge groups of people without, ya know, taking a few seconds to think about what youre actually saying (coughdonaldtrumpcough) i'm not really clear on how that will bridge any divides or encourage honest discourse.

But i dont really get the feeling the alt right crew's goal is to bridge divides anyways, so whatevs

 Meliai's response...

Hmmm no that's not what I had in mind.I suppose to roll up my massive OP in one short sentence: Abandon social justice warrior politics and fringe political correctness, and the left might win again.

Can you please explain what you mean by social justice warrior politics?

I mean i know its a derogatory term thrown around to insult liberals, like libtard...just a meaningless phrase used in place of real discourse.

I dont think the left should abandon championing for the disenfranchised, if thats what you mean

Social justice warrior has always been a bit like the phrase bleeding heart liberal to me, meant to insult and demean except I dont understand what is so insulting about having empathy or fighting for social justice.

yes exactly.

it isn't really an either/or thing. I thought they both ran a divisive campaign.

but Donald did get the coughdonaldcough because he does ramble on and blurt things out a lot without a lot of obvious thought put into it.

Mostly the Wikileaked fact that Hillary's campaign paid violent provocateurs $1500 a head to insight violence at Trump rallies. And this: http://dailycaller.c...-trump-stories/

Have we determined that the wikileaked material is "fact"?To call something a "fact" suggests to me that you got it from a known, reliable, objective source. How has this "fact" been corroborated? Who obtained it? What were their motives? Why did they focus exclusively on Democrats? Is it true that Russia was behind it, as U.S. intelligence suggests?http://www.politifac...onald-trump-it/

We could play the game of link trading all day and night, but unless you can come up with something better than wikileaks and biased pro-Trump sources, its your Alt Reality versus the liberal version.

As for those isolated instances of thuggery you mention, should we also include alleged attacks by right wing goons on Muslims and other minorities?

Can you please explain what you mean by social justice warrior politics?

-Safe Space culture

-Trigger warning culture

-Promoting identity politics

-Policing language for microaggressions

-Believing in the conspiracy theory of the patriarchy

-Demonizing cultural appropriation (like a white person cooking Japanese food, yes it's that ridiculous)

-Censorship of centrist, libertarian, or conservative viewpoints on everything from college campuses to social media

-Nitpicking to find offensive subject matter such as racism, and sexism in everything from Halloween costumes to cartoon frogs

The worst part of political correctness is when it turns deadly. The police in Rotherham did nothing to crack down on a known Pakistani Muslim rape gang, for fear of being Islamaphobic and racist. Or in San Bernardino when the neighbors of the shooters decided not to report the suspicious activity they saw, for fear of being racist or islamaphobic.

Why is it wrong to prioritize facts over feelings?

I mean i know its a derogatory term thrown around to insult liberals, like libtard...just a meaningless phrase used in place of real discourse.

I never really saw SJW as a pejorative way to paint ALL liberals under the same brush. I know a few liberals who are disgusted with the SJW movement and feel that political correctness has gone too far. Such as prominent internet figures such as the Amazing Atheist. I think you can separate the social justice left from the conventional left, just like you can separate the religious right from the alt-right.

Is there an alt-left? If not, naturally I think that's what stops the alt-right.

I don't know if there is yet. If an Alt-left ever did show up, I'd hope they'd be the ones who correct all the problems within the left wing and make it better.

If any of those e-mails provided by wikileaks were forged, wouldn't the Hillary campaign provided proof to debunk all of it?

I don't know if Assange is a Trump supporter or not. I don't think he really is. I just think he has it out for Hillary Clinton TBH. Remember, she denounced all whistleblowers as criminals back in the day when Democrats thought Assange was a hero 4 years ago.

I am that most hated of beings - a white middle-class male.Irrelevant and responsible for all of society's ills.An endangered species.Supposedly privileged except I ain't seeing any.Where is the space for me in all this,or should I just off myself?
