your list is pretty close to mine.... I always have your top 3 in my top 5, somewhere. I would say Pink Floyd Led Zeppelin The Who The Rolling Stones The Beatles and where I go from there is hard to say........
Here is my list of the top bands that have shaped music, and i will explain why. 1) Beatles, Okay without the Beatles experimental period i think we may have taken longer to get out of the lovey-do phase that they started in, but look where they brought the music. (limitless boundries of music) 2) Greatful Dead Without the dead i think alot of jam bands would have never came to be, the dead brought the strong message of freedom to the music world, and showed how live music should be done. (the ultimate jam band.) 3) Led Zep, Strong messages and great vocals, a true steppin stone for music. showed us how to rock hard, and yet also how to trip out. (showed us how to have sex with music.) 4) Pink Floyd: these guys brought us to the level of true experimentation, they made some of the craziest ablums, and have led generations to the darkside of the moon and into the (galaxy of freedom.) Lastly, i would have to put a current band. But a band that is leading the new generation, but also has strong roots in the history of music and other styles of music. 5) The Dave Matthews Band. (sorry if you don't like it, but its my personal opinon)
1. 311 2. Bela Fleck and the Flecktones 3. Led Zeppelin 4. The Jimi Hendrix Experience 5. KRS-One (Not a band, but he had to be thrown in there) "I got a question for that nigga, uh, where are your teeth nigga?"
