people dancing around in front of cameras yelling we want help doesn't make me feel any particular sympathy.......
My second thought is, www.redcross.org I've donated $10. Not much, but I'm pretty broke. I've talked my rent's into giving some money too, it's not much... I feel kinda like I can't do anything to help out. I donated blood too, I hope it helps.
My third though is, mother nature is a cold remorsless bitch. I hate when people use tragedies to make some sort of metaphor about how we take nature for granted, or how we shouldn't be causing global warming... whats wrong with people? So yeah, basically I feel impotent... I don't think anything I can do right now can help out.
I suppose it does really come down to the levee breach and the marshland erosion though, don't you think? In New Orleans anyway. A little more planning could have saved the place...we aren't about planning in this country, its kind of thrown together really...just a few thoughts
i was thinking that today. however, i do think this is a big deal and those people do deserve help...that's why i still donated the small amount that i could. but i do think people should care more on a day to day basis about the things that are ALWAYS happening.
and exactly...they KNEW that this exact situation was on the list of top three possibilities of a HUGE natural disaster that could happen here. plans were even proposed about building a wall, after the tsunmia in asia but the funds werent approved.... hmmmm (although i do have to admit that it wouldnt have been completed anyways)

because the one person didnt make the news...this is in our faces... sad but true... the world is sheep.....the media is the shepherd. btw...thanks for the article link natural.....how freaking sad....
i stopped by my old landlady's house. she works for the red cross and fema. she flew out to deal with the mess the day BEFORE katrina hit.
i beleive alot of rainbow family are headed that way to hold an emergency gathering, or at least theres talk about it, so there may be a buch of free kitchens & medical help arriving soon, although its unclear wether they'll be setting up in the forresst or closer to the city but if you keep checking the rainbow forum here or check agr, you'll be able to find folks
I find hard to comprehend why such a rich country cant provide for the basic needs of its own people in a crisis....perhaps its cuz so much fucking money has been spent on iraq.
