Bree, of course its a good thing to have charisma, I think that you actually feel the religion more than most bible quote spouting wackos on this site, not that you are one of the wackos of course!

 

people react differently to different types of messages. i have fun and joy in my life as i am, which is where the good lord met me. my bad habits, such as they are, make me more available to others who are more comfortable with my sort of personality. i am who i am, and judging by the mass blessings i experience in my life, i'm sure it's okay with god, too.


not everyone is comfortable listening to angry christian sticks in the mud. you think anger and a feeling of self-righteousness is attractive to everyone? hardly. i know it pisses me off to no end. you know why? people angry self-righteous jerks turn more people off christianity than my cheerful cheeky humor. wha's the point of accepting god's love and christ's sacrifice if you're going to squash the joy and humor inherent in mankind's rather absurd existance.

maybe sorts like yourself don't like me, but i hardly think god put me on this earth to appeal to specifically to yourself. i accept my place in god's love, i question dogma that makes no sense to me and has the distinct stink of human perversion tainting the loving and all encompassing message of the most wonderful man to ever grace this earth. so get off my back.

Jesus was a human being who lived a lifetime and died like anyone. He realized how to tap into his abilities to heal and inspired people to make up legends and myths about him but from what we can study as we research the bible is that he was a very spiritual man who connected to the one and only spirituality which is common to all Buddists or Atheists as well when they connect to it. We all connect to the wholeness of ourselves and our universe. At first Christians must have been incredibly touched by his loving presence but anyone walking down the streets in Oregon or Damascus in the present day who has realized this light and has become absorbed in it and is "saved" by it then they are exactly like Jesus. We need to emulate him and remember how he lived his life. He should not be an icon or a "graven image" of God which is nameless and idenity-less as we connect to it just as we laugh or cry. Just as emotion is obvious so is the true connection to the universe beyond words or labels or images.

So really, just because a lot of so-called "Christians" still believe in some kind of faery-tale, water-down, symbolic, mythical version of who Jesus was doesn't mean they don't really, actually connect to the infinite; to their higher selves. They think they're connecting with "Jesus" when they are really connecting with Jesus's religion which was. The only religion as the Buddah pointed out..or any other Swami walking around the hills of India. In order to truly be Christian you must be "saved" from the faery-tale and walk with us toward a future of living in the present, removed from social-standing or image based living or judgement of others. That's your opinion, and you are allowed it. I look at Jesus as The Son of God. I read The Bible and believe what it says. I wont knock you for your belifiefs, but I can't agree with you.

Do you honestly think people are going to take you seriously if all you do is dismiss calims thrown at you and re-direct people to a link with a testimony on it? If you really want to know how to defend Christianity in a factual, logical way, look at my posts on the other religion threads concerning early christianity, holy communion, the apocrypha/bible. I don't just write of people, you are not helping your cause any.
