I have 2 dogs and 2 cats, all ladies,

the dogs are Camille ,and Cassandra, and the cats are Gretchen and Cheshire, and I too had the names flash into my head when I looked into their eyes for the first time.

I wonder, did they choose their own names and send them to me telepathically?

I Named my Black Lab...'Balto' In Advance...Before I Got Him...
Heh...I Did Not Know he Would be Black...And Expected a Golden Labrador...But I Picked Him up From Dog Pound...Suprised to Find Him Black...

I Had Been Waiting Weeks for Him...As There were a Long List of Names Ahead of me Who Wanted Him...But One by One They Decided Not to...And my Name Moved Futher up the List Until...I was the One to Take Him Home...

I was Very lucky to Get Him...

My Cat...I Didn't Pick Her Name Until I Got Her...And the Vet Said He was Certain She Would Die the Night I Got Her...As She Had a Flea Infestation...All the Blood Sucking made Her Anaemic...She was only 5 and a Half Weeks...

But She Pulled Through...And I Named Her Baby at First...but that Quickly Changed to Mimi...As She Responds to Mimi Only...

I have never thought of it like that I just thought it was fate, like she was supposed to be ours.

I have a chihuahua named Mr. Bigglesworth. He looks like Dr. Evils cat after being frozen in space.
His girlfriend was a chihuahua (She died having babies in May), her name was Belly Button....and I have no reason for that.
I have 2 kittens, a yellow one and a white one....Bread (white one) and Butter (yellow one).

We have 2 dogs - a dalmatian named Allie and a Lab/Bassett mix named Kenley. They were both rescues and already had their names.

We also have 3 cats - a long-haired black kitty named Mabel, a short-haired grey kitty named Molly, and a short-haired calico named Dixie. DH had Mabel and Molly when we met, and we adopted Dixie about a year ago. It just seemed to suit her.

wow your turtles are quite big & have kept there markings real nice.

i have a florida yellow belly called tattoo, i called him that because he looked like his skin & shell were painted on.

i also have a cat called pisces. my friends cat had kittens at the latter end of february in 2005 so i called him pisces after his starsign (& mine also). he is such a friendly little cat, i had to hand rear him from being a week old because his mum, my friends cat. she got out of the house by pulling the guard off the tumble dryer & getting out of the air pipe. because she was nursing she was real weak & we think a dog or cat had her as we found he dead the next day. we couldnt find a nursing queen to put the kittens with so we nursed them ourselves. we thought that because they had a week of their mothers milk they stood a good chance of surviving, which they did.

Well, we have a dog, Kodos. He's bullmastiff, rottweiler, boxer and lab, so basically, he's huge and coloured like a rottie, other than a white patch down his chest. He wasn't named for about a week, and the husband came up with "Kodos" out of nowhere... and then I remembered that it's one of the alien's names on the Simpsons, which is kinda cool. Someone also told me that "kodos" means "short" in Greek, which is pretty damn funny for such a big puppy.

We had another dog, too. Her name was Meeka. We didn't name her, but got her from a VERY bad home where she was neglected, starved and badly abused, and then the owner said he wanted to get rid of her because "even though she's trained, she's too hyper to have around my kid". She's pit bull and boxer. Before we even started her training (she wasn't trained at all) or before she started to get comfortable with us, I gave her the nickname "Meekers" because it was a lot like her real name, but seperated us from her terrible old owners, who were the ones that called her "Meeka". She now lives with my husband's parents and she's VERY happy there - they still call her "Meekers" most of the time, because of me.

My tarantulas... Pippin and Merry, that one's obvious, but unfortunately, Merry died a couple months ago so Pippin's a lone hobbit now. They're babies, so they're pretty tiny still.
Gracie (another tarantula) is a full-grown female, and I named her after the Jeff Buckley song "Grace".
We have a spider living in one of our living room windows (sorry, I'm a HUGE spider geek) and I named it Baxter just because the husband was trying to think of cool names, so I said the first 'dorky' name that popped into my head and refused to call it by any other name.

Well, I've been around animals practically since I was conceived--my family's always had some kind of pets--dogs and cats, for the most part--but I remember when I was a kid, I had a parakeet named Woodstock--he was a neat little bird! As for the pets I have now, I have three--two cats and a dog. Their names are Regan, Shadow and Merlin--and as far as how they got their names, they pretty much just came to me--in fact, before I went to get my cat Regan, I already had his name picked out--Regan's an Irish name--I think it means something like "little king"--it fits him to a tee, I think! LOL My cat Shadow got her name not only because of her color (she's solid black), but she likes to be wherever I am at the moment! My dog Merlin got his name in much the same way that Regan got his--I had it picked out even before I went to get him--it just sounded cool, so I went with it! Plus, I had another dog before I got Merlin--her name was Cinnamon, but everybody in the family called her Cinnie--she was half Sheltie and half Basset--she died four years ago, and I still miss her!:( As for Merlin's breed makeup, he's half Lab and I don't know what else--I've never really been sure--but he's a good boy and I can't complain too much! :) Peace!
