Today there was a guy who locked his keys in his car while the car was running. I just so happened to have some chicken wire in my Jeep. So I could craft a hook that we shimmied into the open window. And I was able to hit the unlock lever switch in his car and he got right in. He was so grateful
At church today I only put $5.00 dollars into the collection plate, rather the usual $10.00 to deny the local parish priest and his fellow Jesuits their monthly subscription to naked altar boys.com..lol...
Took in the cutest lil' stray dog. Tomorrow's good deed will be taking it to the vet to see if it's chipped and missing or not.
I did that 4 years ago and he's still with me today, he was the greatest find ever, he's a Hungarian Visla the best find ever we meet when I was feeding some strays outside Kalamata Greece he come up took a biscuit from my spat on the floor and put his head back on my hand, he had found went back and he was mine, in fact he just come in and had the same, loves a fuss. He was a bit skinny, but my vet said he was healthy, he is now OK and even more healthy. That was my good deed for the whole year.
A couple weeks ago I posted a link for the college kids in my Spanish 2 class to follow to the Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Outlook Handbook. It can show them how much they would make or the number of people being hired to a given occupation with certain specific credentials etc. It wasn't that hard because I used the same site to help me decide what to major in when I went to University of California Riverside in 2008 or 2009; I forget which, but I suspect '09 and it might have been a winter quarter or something. I remember something about that, but anyway... Yea. Nice of me! Here's the same link! Home : Occupational Outlook Handbook: : U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics
Friday I was walking back from the bank, the sidewalk plow had completely missed the sidewalk ran over a storm sewer grate, in doing so he tore it off, I almost went in, my foot was an inch away, one more step and I would have went in. Good thing I was looking down. I went home, called the city, they said they would get to it in 24 hours. Grabbed a work’ table ihave, covered and stole a big pylon from across the street to mark it until they could get around to it. It was fixed on Monday and they brought my Table back.
Do I do something every day ? No there are some days that I don't much of anything. This weekend I drove close to 500 miles total- to and from moving a family member. And got caught in a white out snow condition for about 35 minutes while driving. Does that count ? LOL
Saw an old man with the hood (bonnet?) up and peering at something in his engine compartment--stopped and gave his battery a jump and off he went. Couple a' weeks ago, I went by a car in front of a house with it's lights on--no one in the car. Told ém.
On the ski slopes today, a skier down the hill ahead of me whitewashed and crashed. Losing both his skis, one was uphill far from him. So I grabbed it, snowboarded down, and handed it over to him. He was thankful. Hopefully this action extends an olive branch between the childish verbal warfare that often takes place between skiers and snowboarders
There is so much that people really do every day that they don't mention or bring up Because they do it out of the goodness of their heart. Not to brag about it. Or mention it to get praise or to look good. Look around you and see all of the service org. run by volunteers on a daily basis in every community. Be it volunteer fire companies or first aid squads. Food banks or pantries. Mental heath services . School PTA groups or church groups. Etc. .
Don't be bloody stupid !!! - Of course its possible to exist without a box on wheels - I have done for more than 30 years by using public transport on the occassions I need to travel and have my shopping delivered to me by the supermarket.
Last time my wife was in England, she thought it was a good idea to go into Ipswich, wrong, she got 15 minutes there and had to get the bus back, great when you don't have a car in England.
A box on wheels is what I had as a kid, but when I was in England you cant do anything without a car, work I traveled anything up to a 1000 miles a week try doing that without a car. I lived in England till we moved to Greece.
