Ideally things that have actually worked for you first-hand :)

    Mine (so far) are:

    - Eucalyptus for dental plaque

    - Castor oil for skin infections

    - Colloidal silver for eye and ear infections

    - Hydrogen peroxide for blocked ears

    - Magnesium sulphate (or prunes!) for constipation

    - Coconut oil for colds

That's all that I can think of off-hand but I think they've all worked for me!

    You guys? :)

Hm, cool! I think all hydration helps with them too.

Also, just wanted to specify, I think 3% hydrogen peroxide is best for blocked ears. More might be unsafe.

Heat - Well, technically they're asking different questions! There's a reason I phrased mine like I did :)

r0llinstoned - Yeah that stuff rules!

hydrogen peroxide is not really what I would consider a natural remedy.

what does coconut oil do for a cold?

I guess the only thing I use that I would consider a natural remedy would be using cannabis for pain management. Coconut oil makes a good massage oil as well.

Erm... I suppose. Some things like hydrogen peroxide and glycolic acid are derived from wholly natural sources, so can be considered natural. For example, caprylic acid can be taken in an isolated form, but is originally from coconuts, so can be considered natural. Whereas diphenhydramine for example is synthetic.

Coconut oil contains natural anti-virals but... to be honest I can't fully remember which fatty acids are the antiviral ones. I think it's caprylic but some others such as lauric may be antiviral as well.

    Wow, that's quite a list!

Out of those, I am a big fan of cloves, spirulina, cinnamon, garlic and coconut oil (of course).

I should look into some of the others, as my knowledge isn't great on all of them.

no but... you really can't see the difference between isolating something and synthesizing it?

everything used to synthesize something comes from the earth in some way or another.

    yes but synthesized = synthetic.

Caprylic acid is not synthetic because it was not synthesized, and neither is hydrogen peroxide, or glycolic acid or salicylic acid or vitamin C or co-enzyme Q10 or any of these things. They were not invented in a lab so they are considered natural, because we use them in the way they are found in nature.

The question surely I suppose it whether you consider the ISOLATION of the chemical (such as glycolic acid or vitamin C (ascorbic acid)) sufficient to consider it unnatural. Personally I do not, but you of course are free to view it how you wish.

Until I see a hydrogen peroxide tree, I'll continue to consider it "unnatural". That is not to say that unnatural implies anything negative.

It's found in springs and stuff I think. In fact, apparently, if you shake a bottle of water, you can make a small amount of it yourself. Also, it is found inside all of us at all times and all other animals AFAIK and maybe even plants too. It is used I believe as part of our immune system.

It is also in breast milk, I believe to help the developing immune system of the baby.
