I've tried tofu but never aquired a taste for it(but in all fairness,I'm not a great cook). I like brown rice, beans(black ,pinto, red and kidney) , and mushrooms. I mainly eat great quantities of raw veggies and do bodybuilding and heavy workouts . I don't crave "meat" but if I do crave something more substancial,(because I've been physically exerting myself) mushrooms and beans seem to satisfy. I've honestly never tried seitan or tempeh and I don't like dairy products so my choices are somewhat limited but I feel healthy with my current diet. It seems to suit my needs. I think it 's important to go with what work for each individual.
For the first 2-3 yrs I was so sketchy to certian things like vegan deli " meat" Vegan hotdogs and the vegan ground "beef" It freaked me out wayy to much lol !!! But now Im almost in my 6th year as a vegetarian, Ive past threw my stages and I open my mind to trying diffrent type of vegan meats. My favorites are...... Vegan deli "meat" ( which I didnt start eating till I was 4/5 yrs veg cuz it freaked me out sooo much lol . Im going to have to join the others that enjoy veggie "corndogs" because they are delicious ( I dont buy them often) Veggie "Chicken" once in awhille And last but not least vegan boca burgers ( Idky but I personally think the vegan is so much bettter then there vegetarian boca burgers LOL ) Others: Diffrent types of Beans Hummus Nuts Portabella mushrooms And all diffrent types of good organic veggies
Beans & Grains here too. Can I just say that I was really excited to see how many other people prefer them over other choices? Now, if I could only get my lentil love going. Michelle
oh, we can do that..... look in the recipes section (munchies) under vegan. Awesome lentil soups. And wats, Ethiopian stews, are just fab.
I made beans and cornbread yesterday. Sort of a fall tradition to celebrate the turning of the seasons. The second day is always better for flavor. After that, they'll make you fart like a Klingon. x
Mmmm, we had beans for lunch today too! It's getting cold enough I'm considering pulling out the crockpot for the season. And what's wrong with a little Klingon music? Keeps you warm at night love, mom
i thought i was gonna die after years that stuff years ago. i still feel all uke: barfy when i see it at stores.
Oh, good. I thought this poll was about tofurkty and soy dogs. I'll eat veggieburgers for convenience and community at barbecues with my friends, but in general I don't. I gave up meat. Substitutes are kind of like cheating for me. That and I don't care for processed food in general.
strange...not much mention of falafel. i love falafel, most middle eastern food really...so rich and balanced
