Dude Yamaha's are the tanks of guitars. They are cheap and sound pretty good. My first guitar ever was a big as yamaha...I miss it sooo much! I love ovations but they aren't make as well as they used to, they have beautiful tone to them. I wouldn't mind owning a nylon stringed ovation.
some sort of custom strat or tele as far as electrics go. buddy of mine has a '65 vintage strat that sounds pretty amazing. old school with the 3 way instead of 5 way pickup selector. with an acoustic, maybe a nice jumbo gibson or a high end martin. i like going to guitar shops and trying all the fancy equipment i can't afford
squier affinity telecaster. it came with a neck that warped when it was about a year old. i found a strat neck, put one of those 'teflon impregnated' nuts on it, fitted it to the body. while i had it apart, i put a tonerider humbucker in the neck, replaced a scratchy tone control, put locking grovers on it and then a used 'famous name' bridge pup. i still need to shim the neck, as it is not angled as good as it could be....have the hardwood to do it, just been too busy/lazy. when i want to know 'what does this pedal or amp really sound like', i use the squier. i know what it will do, and i know how it should sound 'clean'. it's becoming 'the guitar i would be pissed about if it disappeared'.
Go easy on 'em now jmt, Squire's not the best but some of 'em are fairly playable... Your favorite guitar should always be... ...the one that's in your hands right now! :2thumbsup: (early '80s Charvel 3, Kahler whammy) ZW
Love my Gibson SG Standard. It's a newer one, only 2 years old... but we know each other, and get along great. But I also really dig my Martin Backpacker....
hands down Gibson Les paul for me. And this is the player's perspective. I've played with alot of guitars. In electric guitars, to name a few, I've played withTele's, SG's, ESP's, Ibanez, BC Rich.... Now I own 1 Fender Jaguar, and one Gibson Les paul. I love them both, but the les paul just has a little something more. There's just something about that tone that it gives me that I can't find anywhere else. The problem with Les Paul's however, is that they are very frail. A mahogany neck with a 17 degree angle at the head is just a recipe for disaster. On my les, the neck snapped 5 times so far. Yes, I am rough on my guitars, but this broke my heart every time. For now, I keep the les paul at home and use it in the studio, but I Jam with the Jaguar and Also take the Jaguar on the road or to play shows. It's an awesome guitar, and I could just about throw it out the window and it would survive. It's no Les Paul though
any of these will do...I always have trouble deciding L-R Guild D-15, PRS Hollowbody II, '57 Les Paul Goldtop Historic, '60 Custom Shop NOS Strat, Asbury Acoustic (my festival/camping guitar) on the floor, Guild D-4NT
yeah the amps are a Fender Blues Deluxe, a 40th annivers. "65 Twin Reverb and the little tweed amp is a 15 watt Fender Bronco...oh..and my travel/practice amp is a Roland Micro Cube runs on A/C or battery
My favorite guitar at the moment is a Taylor '97, 814c acoustic. This guitar is as much of a pleasure just to look at as it is to play. I also have a Taylor 750 12 string, an old Gibson A4 mandolin, a '78 Les Paul Custom and a Eric Johnson Strat. The good thing about having my children raised and out of the house is that I can indulge myself and not feel guilty about spending money on my music.
sounds like you have a nice collection too....but where are all the photos..come on folks...show us the goods!!!!!
:drool5: :drool5: :drool5: Goldtop Les Pauls make me weak in the knees! Surf green strats make me cream my jeans! Nice collection man, a seriously fine looking bunch of instruments!
Thats awesome man. I have a bit of an issue with fender amps though. I think they are AWESOME, but you just cant play them at low volumes. You either can't hear em' or they are blowing your face offf!
Yea, I've noticed that as well. That and they're too jangly. They're thin I find. Except for the Bassman, Deville and Hot Rod Deluxe. Those amps are pretty damn sweet
absolutely true about low volume..the Twin is the best amp in the world...but, low volume isnt good...so, thats why I have the Blues Deluxe....and all of my amps are USA Made Fender....the newer Hot Rod series , made south of the border are really junk....friends have them and have had more problems than I can describe...pots, transformers, reverb tanks... My Blues Deluxe is a '96...and thats my open mic/blues jam amp....easy to carry, very dependable.... the Twin is my gig amp and use it with my pedalboard..(compressor, delay, chorus, Dyna Wah, distortion and wah-wah pedal)....again, I never have a problem with that amp...and that little Tweed Bronco just screams!!
Dont get me wrong though, I love em' when they are loud - they are just not apartment friendly haha Right now I'm playing a Traynor YBA-1 1973 through a cab that I made myself (that's what I do). I love that amp. Its got something special. I actually got rid of a vintage HIWATT custom 100 cause I always played with the YBA
