It wasn't too many years ago I started seeing smartphones in back pockets. Also, I remember when SMS (text messages) gained infamy, and how it appeared on cellular phone bills for my parents when I was in my 20s and living at home.

Today, I have a smartphone with a touch screen, and I had been in the practice of buying a very thick protective case, tried screen glass (extra layer for the screen), and discovered that despite advertising to the contrary that I couldn't use biometric fingerprints through the glass for models with a touchscreen fingerprint censor.

Otterbox stole the show for me, but sometime in the last two weeks I decided that some of these cases have too much "pocket presence" (no, that isn't like "stage presence"), such that they were really looking bulky.

My new cases are slimmer and more ergonomic/sensible, offering enough drop protection and bumpers and raised edges sticking out enough to protect the screen from any ground contact.

What do you use for your screen protecting needs? Is it about bulk, beauty, or damage resistance? :)

I have an Otterbox Defender for my phone. I have a Galaxy S23+ and there is a thinning area specifically for the thumbprint metric. I carry it on my belt with the included belt clip.
